Best upgrade option for my store bought machine...

I need to upgrade the GPU, since the current is integrated. I'm building my own system soon and will possibly pass this onto my mom or nephew.

Can anybody suggest me the best bang for the buck GPU? Possibly in the 50-70 range, or less.

9800GT or hd4830 as a gpu!! also you shuld add more memory

I do plan on adding another 2GB of memory, but that subject is in the System Builder's Advice sub forum. The 9800GT/HD4830 is a little out of my price range, since I'm already dumping about $2000 in a completely custom rig.

well then go lower 9600GT or HD4670!! if there will be any gaming on that rig then that is the lowest you can go

My mom or nephew won't be doing any heavy gaming at all. I'm just doing this for a little experience before building my i7 rig, and for a slight upgrade.

I've decided on 2GB Kingston ValueRAM.
Looking to upgrade the CPU a tad bit too, but I don't have many options with socket 939.
Still deciding on a GPU.

this pc is not for games , you need good cpu first so food cpu need good mobo and with good mobo you need.....
at last as an apu can fit with this pc and will be useful in you price range try ati 4670 or nvidia 9500gt

Grab a 4350 then. Cheap can play old games quite well. Good for HD movies etc and very low power.

I've actually decided to splurge on an Apevia 500W PSU, an HD 4830 512MB, and 2GB of Kingston ValueRAM.

The PSU comes to about $20 after rebate, so it's not much.
