best video editing software?

whats the best that you know of? i am going to make a gameplay video of me playin' Killing Floor...i want to add special affects, credits, some kind of intro video clip? also want to be able to add audio files and the video editing really needs to work...like i want to be able to take 1 second of footage out of the middle of it...any idea's? free, trial, $500.00, anything will work.

I may get shouted at by people by saying this but windows movie maker is brilliant for making gameplay clips - you can add intros/credits easily, transitional effects, cut up and order audio and video clips and it's free on windows.

yeah i have the new one with win 7...i like it except for the actual footage editing...i don't understand it 0.o

Import the clip, when you reach a part you wat to cut the clip into 2 sections then pause it (if you're playing it through internally to find the point) and there should be a cut button, click it and your imported video is now 2 imported videos. To cut a middle section navigate to the point where you want to start your clip, click cut. Go to the second clip of the original and navigate to where you want it to end and click cut again. You then have 3 mini-clips of the original clip, with the middle clip being the content you wanted.

im using vegas 9 pro...its amazing.

That would be Sony Vega 8.0 or 9.0 but that's going to cost you :nutkick:

. I believe Movie Studio 9 may also do what you want at a lower price.

sony vegas is definitely the easiest one to use with the most features going by how easy it is to use

he don't have a mac infinity

does anyone use cyberlink power director 7 ? ive heard this is very good and it wins the best video editing in alot of top 10 video editing software.

There is a slight learning curve but it's fairly easy once you get the hang of it. It really add depends on what you want to do though. If you are not sure about something google it using youtube and someone is bound to show you how.

+1 for sony vegas...
im using it, very stable (no crashes like pinnacle 12 i used before)... also makes easy work of large 108-p hidef files off my camcorder
