Alright. I've decided to purge everything I have. Literally. I'm getting rid of all the computer stuff I own. I need to know the best way to do this.

I want to sell this. But I don't want this to sit around forever. But I also don't want to give this stuff away. I know how pricing works, lower price = faster sale. This isn't just an apprasial thread. I want to hear/discuss some stratagies so I can actually sell everything. My goal is to get rid of everything without giving it away. Should I sell local or online? Price high and say OBO or start low for the quick sale? How much should I charge for online vs local? Craigslist the best place? Things like that. Hopefully you people can help me out.

First, I want to get rid of some complete systems I have that sit and do nothing:
System 1
E6300 Conroe
Gigabyte GA-P965-DS3
2GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2-675 (Hits DDR2-1000 no problem)
ATI 3870 voltmodded, but not overclocked (yet ;))
2 Seagate 7200.9 80GB in Raid 0
Asus DVD-ROM
Antec NeoHE 380W
Antec Sonata II (door hinge broke. It works, but you gotta hold it when you open it)
Win XP Pro

System 2
E2180 Allendale
Gigabyte G31 something
2GB OCZ DDR2-800
80GB WD IDE HDD
DVD Burner
Antec NSK 3300
Win XP Home

Misc Parts:
2GB Crucial Lanfest DDR2-800 (Hits DDR2-1200!)
4x Scythe 100x12mm 1000rpm fans
2x AC Accelero S1 (a rev1 and rev2)
6-8 3/8ID WC fittings/barbs
Thermaltake Big Typhoon
2x Thermaltake Sorbs
Zalman VF-900
Petra's DDCT-01 pump top

And I can see everything I listed from by bed. So this stuff needs to go. What's the best way to get rid of it all?

what i do is set a price half between the highest i would ask and the lowest i will take.So that way i can lower prices from time to time and take offers and still get the lowest i want or alittle above it. Seems to sell everything fast.

Every thread I start seems to die very quickly...

Thanks for the advice. That sounds like a good idea.

Any other advice about how to make sure I sell this stuff? Especially the systems. Most people on forums arn't looking to buy a complete system. And I need this stuff appraised too.

Sell it on Craigslist, make sure you say in the listing that it is being sold as is. Price about $50-100 less on the systems than you would optimally like to get for a quick sale. Also offer a $100 discount if they buy both.

Also, any way you would sell me the 4GB DDR2 (if it's 2x2) and replace it with the Lanfest for me? I'm trying to upgrade a server in a juvenile penitentiary that is massively bottlenecked with 2GB's of ram.

Makes sense. Do you think I can charge more on CL than on a forum? Even if I up the price compared to a forum price, it'll still be cheaper than a similarly spec'ed Dell machine.

And how much do you think I can get for these? I was thinking about asking $450 for System 1. Mostly because the 3870 will outpace every sub $500 computer you can buy, but I would take $350 if it came down to it. For System 2, I think $300 is reasonable, but I would take $250.

Ah shit. My memory was off. I just checked and it's 2x1GB, not 2x2GB. Really sorry. :slap:

That's all right.

Look at it this way. You can probably charge the same price on CL pickup as you can online shipped 2 day, and get a quick sale.

I'll leave the appraisals up to others. I really don't keep up with anything older than current-gen hardware
