If you can find a GTX260 for the same price or less it performs slightly better.

Read above. Unless you think "Superclocked" means it's slower than a standard GTX260. It's not.

It could be a 192 shader version and the other could be a 216 shader version. If so go for the 216 shader version because there really isn't much difference between a 1gb 4870 and the 192 shader version.

Upgrade your computer's processor, ram and whatnot and keep your current 4830, they are more than powerful enough for gaming, use the $204.00 on a better CPU and higher quantity of ram. Alternatively put the money in a bank and use it to buy a new GPU in about a year, hopefully it will be DX11 compatible.

Edit:

i am getting a whole new computer. the one i am on right now i am giving to my little brother.

I'd advise that you create a new thread in the system builder category and keep all the conversation about the build there. You've been spreading each component across hundreds of threads over the last couple of days but having the topic in a central location would make it easier for us to help you :)

BTW, what is your budget and are you planning on going Intel or AMD?

I didn't even look at your system specs. I agree with Darren. Any card more than your 4830 will be a waste of money. You need a new motherboard, processor and ram.
