BFG 6800 GT OC 256 MB, I like to see what everyone else did with their card.

Right I have just my new card: BFG 6800 GT OC 256 MB agp, its brill.
Scoring 4933 in 3dmark 05 right now. I have not changed anything on it, well I did apply arctic silver 5 to the core and other standard thermal paste to the ram.
The temps on it are 70 idle, 85 max load on the core.
Is this normal temps for this card?
What is a good overclocking tool I could use to find this card's max? - like atitool which I used for 9800.

If those temps are in celcius, they are a little high. Usually BFG 6800GT maxxes out at around 75C. 85C is a high peak temperature, although not dangerous. Did you apply the arctic silver properly, or did you just put a blob on the core and attach the cooler?
Use rivatuner or powerstrip for overclocking Nvidia cards. Watch your temps though.

It was like that before I played with it but worse. reaching 86 C when stressing with atitool.
i am using the drivers 72.01 from 3dguru for the temps and I haven't touched the clocks yet.
They are at 370 core and 500 for mem.
Yeah I spreaded the paste on the core, there isn't much in that tiny tube you know can't let it go to waste.lol
And I placed the heatsink on then took it off then check for full contact of the ram and core.

I had fairly high temps with my 6800GT roughly about what you are seeing, I purchased an arctic cooler NV5, this brought the temp down around about 15C under load, now sitting at high 60s low 70s when stressing the card.

I have a pci spectrum card blowing on my gt.

I tried pushing it but the max seems to be around 420/ 1.12Ghz, I rekon with a Vmod you can get it higher.

I have successfully reached 410 Mhz core and 1.06ghz mem. I did use the detect optimal which gave me a little higher but I am more concerned about blowing it up so I lower them down a bit since the high temps, but it hasn't had much effect on the temps despite OC'ing, I now get 5300 in 3dmark05. W00t!

I just ordered the silencer from Overclockers.co.uk since I have bought from there before, how does the silencer fit?
My bfg heatsink used pads for the memory, but from the pics it looks like the silencer touches directly with both the core and the memory.

Get rid of the pads, thay are crap, use AS5 or a high grade thermal coumpound.

Actually Systool should be able to OC your card. Support tpu.com software

yeah systool looks like it will work, just can't wait till functions such as find max etc are added.

The silencer looks like the pads aren't needed besides they are stuck to the bfg stock cooler and I have nothing to replace the gap with.

You need to get some thermal paste on those ram chips, get rid of the pads they are crap.

I awaiting my arctic silencer, damn bank holidays, anyway the thing should arrive soon and I will be (hopefully) able to oc'd higher and enjoy games at high settings at little bit more, yes I do notice the slight drop in fps even if its 5fps, my well trained eye.

You should see cs: s with everything set to low, the player models have strange heads and everything looks so bland, its like playing doom in 3d

i am playing css on a very high level and its better for me to make everything look as ugly as possible so i have more fps i see it with two eyes iam good at first and then iam notlooking for any effects even when i play hl2 ive turned everything on and installed omega drivers for that
for source normal i play with dna or original drivers
