I tried playing in windowed mode and it seemed to work better for a little while; I guess crossfire was an issue. Was able to get past where i normally crashed. Yet, when I tried to quicksave a few minutes down the line, the game crashed.

So I disabled crossfire all together and tried it again in full screen. Reloaded, played a bit, tried to quicksave, and it worked OK. Hopefully I'll be able to play through well enough.

I'm really hoping it'll stop crashing because I really want to play through the game this time. It's already got me hooked again.
Yeah I am testing Windowed Mode as much as I hate it but I didn't crash. I am off for an MRI so can't give it a long test but will try to put some good time in it. It's been noted to steer clear of Quick Save not only will they crash they game you can lose your saves too. Also on that note smart to disable the Cloud in Steam a per any game with wonky saves, Cloud could make them worse.

I use this and it's pretty perfect as it could be and it "sticks" as it's activated by W Might come up as a Virus because where it wants to install but it's clean

Cheers, but I don't think I'll need that, but I will keep it anyway ;) . I didn't do what was in the Bioshock remastered wiki, I instead did what was in the Bioshock wiki to the remaster edition ;) . Basically edited User.ini in %APPDATA%\BioshockHD\Bioshock\ , I added MouseSmoothingMode=0 , MouseAccelThreshold was already 0 in my ini.

I think I will pass. I see all these crashes (which I didn't have replaying the original just last year), and feel better textures is not really worth paying for. Besides, the original still looks good to me, and probably contributes a lot to the atmosphere.

Yeah, it's free but after seeing some of the experiences that others are having I think I will hold off on downloading the games for now. I doubt 2K will spend any more money on this effort but who knows. Bioshock 1 and 2 and Minerva's Den are great games the way they are now anyway and very much replayable even though Bioshock 1 is 9 years old.

That does the same thing in just a nice little installer and cleverly added to the forward key because it will reset on reloads/area changes. Not to mention if your game crashes which there is a good chance it will eventually some if not all of the .ini tweaks will reset so you're stuck doing them again. I just keep that one handy take 3 seconds to fix the mouse again.

I've multiple times loaded game and not had an issue or needed to reapply fix to User.ini ;) .

I've only experienced 1 crash as stated before, only after 1st install/launch through Steam, still using Win 7 even though I have Win 10 :) .

For me it is a permanent fix so far, "fire & forget" and yes I've been through area changes / reloads of game & saves plus changes of some in game options to see if it gets undone ;) .

Why are people (your enemies) acting so strange in this game, like they are insane or something. They're always mumbling something and when they see you they go berserk, meaning they start to scream and jump around like idiots. What's with that, never seen that kind of behavior in games? I've done only the first mission and almost died of jump scares. This is a pretty f***ed up game.

P.S My first time playing it, the original Bioshock from 2007.

Yeah, stick with it and follow the story even if it seems weird to you right now. It's a very good game.

Actually, @Damocles for full explanation of everything, you'll need to get through Infinite and play its DLC's as well. Still, by the end of Bioshock you'll be 75% sure of what's going on.

Played a little more yesterday and it played just fine: no crashes, no glitches, quicksave working fine. The game is gripping imo, and I'm eager to follow the story through to the end this time. I really wish I had stuck with the game before and out more effort into it.

The big daddies are tough suckers though. Killed the first one in medical but reloaded to try again since I used up nearly all my amo. Now at the second big daddy and I am going to try to use some better tactics and other stuff to try to ghost him more efficiently. But the little sisters are so adorable and I love their voices; I'm rescuing the sisters and not harvesting them.

Use Telekinesis to catch his rockets and throw them back at the Big Daddy. Conserves ammo that way. Hack turrets whenever available. Really, the game wants you to use your plasmid powers and rewards you if you do.

I'm not sure if this is considered a spoiler so I will put it behind a spoiler tag.

Don't harvest the Little Sisters. You get more Adam if you do but you will get plenty of Adam anyway and you also get the good ending this way.

+1, just been playing this everytime I've been on the PC ;) . Getting a little more used to things going bump in the game :), did have a few  moments early on. The game environment conveys so well a broody macabre atmosphere.

I use electric shotgun ammo to take down the Big Daddies, works really well after the shotgun is fully upgraded, takes about 8 shells give or take, more on the elite ones, at least on medium difficultly, shoot him 4 times duck behind something reload.

Also finished (re)playing BioShock Remastered today, only crashed once, and I don't have to force DX9 anymore, so other than the graphic bugs I'm happy with this update.

Peeps if you want to enhance your experience, Nvidia users can enable Ambient Occlusion and proper MSAA modes in NVCP, i am using AO high quality + 8xCSAA and getting much better visuals.

See for yourself.

As for the texture flicker mentioned it's a game bug and i get it too but it's not often.

I have seen no performance decreases from this.

Little disappointment. Quick saved, then game crashed right after. Everytime I loaded the game it crashed immediately after. Had to go back to the last non-quicksave which set me back a bit, but I had no choice.

I sincerely hope for that update soon to stop all these issues, mainly the crashing. It sucks because part of me wants to stop and come back to the game later, but the other part is very intrigued/hooked in the game. I'm ashamed it took me 9 years

I'll wait a bit till they get things sorted out. I don't want remaster to be less enjoyable than original which was essentially problem free for me. Except Bioshock 2 which had a weird game breaking key bind bug lol

I'm ashamed it took me 9 years
Don't tell gupsterg ;) :p

I'm happy and a little surprised they are working on a patch and actually fixing things(mouse movement) after 9 yrs but the rest is them just putting back things they took out. But if it stops the crashing I will be happy.

Would be nice if they'd extend the damn FOV slider for Bioshock Infinite. Just because they think it's already "modern" enough, that doesn't mean it actually is. I had to hack FOV slider even back then and I don't think they fixed it. Default max was by far not enough of a wide FOV angle.
