Both are the same price, $130. I'm leaning towards the BIOSTAR because it would go better with my HAF X and has a longer warranty.

Now has SLi support, too.

AsRock i haven't touched a single product from, so I cannot comment.

The Gigabyte 990X (GA-990XA-UD3) and the ASUS 990X (M5A99X Evo) are about the same price and offer just about everything the cheaper FX boards offer (Crossfire, SLI, etc..) but slightly better power systems (Gigabyte- 8+2 power, ASUS- 6+2 power) and most likely a better warranty

The only thing you really lose is x16/x16 on the PCIE lanes (990X is x8/x8) which is only a slight drop in Crossfire/SLI performance..... maybe 5-10%

Maybe 5% at best but no more , more likely between 3-5% but the other difference (X vs FX) is you can only use 2 GC's as for the FX you can use 4 GC's 2x16 or 4x8

Well I don't plan to run more than 2 video cards so I guess 990X would be fine for me.

Then go for the Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3 it's the one i would get if i were to change my motherboard either that or the Asus one , anything else is lower grade for me

I have the ASUS one and have had no issues with it so far. I also had the previous version of the Gigabyte (GA-890XA-UD3) which is nearly identical with the exception of AM3+ support and was also trouble free... The Gigabyte lacks the new style UEFI BIOS, which is more hype than anything else IMHO, the rest is up to board color(s) and port configurations (PCIEx16 spacing, etc...)

I have the ASUS one and have had no issues with it so far. I got nothing against Asus boards or Gigabyte these are the only 2 brand i would buy as a motherboard & nothing else , it's just that i prefer Gigabyte a little bit more that is all

Point is for motherboards it's Gigabyte or Asus FTW!!

I agree 100% both are great boards ... was a real tough call to pick the ASUS this time over the Gigabyte. Cadaveca's review of the ASUS board put me over the edge on buying the one I bought.

The OP has two choices and none of them are Gigabyte or Asus; maybe you didn't read the first post.

They both look like nice boards, however the AsRock seems to have better spacing for a dual card setup. It also has more rear usb 2.0. However, it has no internal usb 3.0 headers like the biostar.

I'd probably go with the AsRock... 1: the Biostar board I have now is already having issues whereas my old AsRock 4CoreDual-VSTA is still running flawless since '07. 2: I like the broadcom NIC better... I seem to have better luck with drivers with Broadcom than Atheros. 3: I like the port and slot layout of the AsRock better, yea it has 2 fewer USB 3.0... but there are hubs for that.
