Benchmark Scores I dont have time for that.
I wont be able to get a new system to replace the one in my specs for probably close to another year, but im eager to jump backi in, I didnt wait two years for its release to stop playing because of silver wales. unless they changed it you could equip that stuff anyway if you were too low level, so its not like people are signing up and then like roiding out. Atleast that was impossible when I was still playing. Either way I'll be playing again eventually, I dont buy into the QQ crying of teens in MMO forums. That entire community is probably about as bad as the RTS genre.

Well, at this point, anyone can equip any item for their class that they can purchase. I could go in the game now with enough silver, and could purchase a buffed out Ultimate Liverto Longbow, and a full set of maxed Grunil armor, and put it on my level 5 baby ranger (I think I'd get level 5 simply by running far enough to get to a storage bank). The whales won't be too bad since, as I said, they can only sell 5 items a week, potentially 125 mill silver (minus the 35% sellers tax). Mostly what I'm seeing while in game, is anywhere from 10 -30 costume sets and/or pieces online at a time when you check. Then, during the day, you'll see anywhere from 1 to 5 Value Packs (which only cost them $10, and net them less than 7mill silver back), and an occasional 1-3 pets at a time (for around 3 million in return). So, not a great deal of return, but still not overly pleased with the change.

Not what I expected on a Buy Once game... I really did envy Eve's setup for real money transactions. Buy a month's subscription, sell it in-game for in-game money. Worked out well. And for those that insist an MMO can't exist on a non-beneficial Cash Shop, I simply point at Path of Exile, which has thrived in exactly that environment. The only arguably beneficial in-game purchase is bank space... which I have too much of because I'm an OCD pack rat :)

I avoided this game Ahhzz and it sounds like I was right to do so.
I've been back on a Project 1999 binge again. If you want challenging MMOs, maybe you should come try this.

Was able to buy two pets and an outfit the first day Pearl items were available on the Marketplace so I can't say that I dislike the ability, but it's taken a toll on the community. A vocal group of anti-p2w players said they would quit if it happened, and from what I can tell, they kept that promise. Chat is quieter, several names no longer log in, etc.

Those on the pro-side can't be too happy either; you have to camp the MP to have even a 1/1000 chance of getting an item now because there is no pre-order.

The thing is though, yeah - the game did effectively screw up the players who have a lot of time to invest in the game, and instead favored those who can invest a lot of money in it, but that is just replacing one OP elite with another.
While the publisher's reasons for doing this are obvious, as someone who does play regularly, but has neither enough time nor money to invest in BDO to compete at this level, these changes ultimately work for me just fine.
Of course, if they simply wanted more players to gain access to the Cash Shop inventory they could have had NPCs sell these items, but in the end of the day to those like me it doesn't matter, so while I'd hate to approve of some company's underhanded greedy tactics (to be fair Daum actually did say that they intend to introduce these exchanges at a later point well in advance of release, but few people seem to have gotten that particular memo) the changes are for the better as I'd wager the majority of BDO's population fall in my category.
Also the money people can make per week are really nowhere near 125 mil. At best you can sell 5 full outfits+weapons for ~20 mil each and since you cannot avoid the 30+5% tax for cash shop items it comes down to 64 million silver at the price of ~150 euro.
Honestly. I think people who go for this are pretty dense, but they clearly have the cash to spend, so why stop them? :)

I agree on the money number, with a couple of small points. I did point out above that they lose the 35% tax penalty, but to bump your number upwards slightly, at least one of the newer outfits available can sell for over 24 mill. Still, you are correct in general, those aren't nearly the back-breaking numbers that people were concerned about.

I think my biggest issue is the serious lack of communication. I do agree that some of the people that were going to quit, did, including at least 2 from my previous guild. If Daum/Kakoa would have given more detail about the exact plan and limitations on the changes, it might have quelled some of the noise.

I've put, if I remember right, $80 in the game since .. March? I think was the release? So, initial purchase with a small pearl purchase for three pets on sale. Then, a little more a month or two ago, for a Value pack. I've got 20 days left on my VP right now, and caught a pack in the Market so I've got another month covered. I'll probably try to set aside some time each week with 10 mill to grab a value pack off the market, and if I can't, I think I'll just let it slide until I do.

I agree: if they wanted to let people at the Cash Shop stuff, they definitely passed on the simple solutions. This was money, very simply, and the fact that they've been silent about so much, and lied about more, just annoys me. The game has so much potential, but I don't think the company's team understands how the American gaming market works....

Oh well. I plan to enjoy it as long as I can. Then, I'll drop it, and break out Star Citizen, or Elite, or maybe even hit a month or two in Eve (I've still got 1 or 2 Plex in my in-game inventory heheh). For now, I get some enjoyment from it, and I'll stick until I don't.

If I read the above correctly, are you saying that people can now sell costumes they buy at the store at the auction house? I dig this game but hell I have not touched it since I built my newest PC.

Yup.

Most are capped under 20 million, but there's a new outfit that can go for 24 million.

The newest patch has made a mess of my response time on the system, and I'm concerned that the new Enchanting system is paving the way to introduce Valk's Cry to NA/EU, which will mean I'll probably quit the game. Kinda sucks, since I'm really enjoying the Dark Knight :(

I was tentative about starting Dark Knight because I'm not a fan of any class with the word "knight" in it, that is any thing but King Fu**ing Arthur!

'Dps' knights are to me dumb. However I would grant an exception for classical RPG Shadow Knights where you're a heavy armor /plate armor type tank with a bit of self sufficiency and survivability (e.g. drains, debuffs etc.) at the expense of slight armor reduction. The original EverQuest nailed it with their Shadow Knight.

But it doesn't matter now, I decided not to stick with it(the game that is).

I played again for 2 weeks when Dark Knight came out. Already knew at that time I was leaving the game so I sold all my gear and had $1B in the bank to spend on DK stuff.

It's been uninstalled since then. The class was fine, especially since I didn't care about how many silvers I was spending those last two weeks.

I just wanted to get into some other games for awhile. AKA, stuff I've bought on sale but haven't played yet.

I personally HATE the ranger class... I always play a ranger as my main, but really wasn't enjoying it that much... and then they did the "awakening" for it, and turned into a melee class....
I change dmy main to a Kuno (female ninja), and then when the Dark Knight came out in NA, I swapped to her (my ava), and haven't looked back :)

By the way, for anyone having processor issues, I recommend using the limiter here, and selecting the xcorona.xem file, limiting it by 99%. This is their DRM, Xigna-whatever. It can eat up over half your processing power, severely affecting the frame rate and playability, especially on older processors. My 2500k is still pushing thru, but I think it's definitely showing signs of strain, and I'm not getting anywhere near the frame rates I'd like.
Recent notes indicate that due to the latest patch, if you've been using this to limit the processor while "afk", the black desert executable is running with admin permissions, which means you can't limit it with this software (I'm not, just the xigna crap). If you do use the software to limit BDO executable itself, this patch appears to resolve it.

The solution

• Save the following code in a text file to desktop , rename it to "fix.bat".

cmd /min /C "set __COMPAT_LAYER=RUNASINVOKER && start "" %1"

• Drag and drop the black desert launcher onto the .bat file we created. **emphasis mine. you can't run the executable without the launcher. seeing variable responses in the reddit thread**

This will force BlackDesert to launch without administrator privileges

Finally , download the latest version of BES to restrict your CPU

http://mion.faireal.net/archive/BES/bes_1.7.5.zip

Also, for anyone looking to build a Striker, they've added his skill set to the builder here . If you've played, you may know about "Flow", which is basically glorified combos. For the Striker (who has several skill mimicking Ken from Street Fighter), he is ALL about the combo and flows, very early on. I haven't played all the classes, but I haven't seen this many flow options on any of the other 5 classes I play...

This game came up in discussion during a guild event in ESO last night. TO which I simply said 'Nice looking, interesting quest mechanics, finally a modern MMO that lets you level up by grinding mobs...' 'but everything do eventually leads to an end game PVP and nothing more'

I think that's a fair assessment. I would add the caveat that the 'journey' is worth it, regardless of the ending, but frankly it's not. There's very little group oriented content and I'd rather the guild mates played EverQuest emulators than mindlessly grind by themselves (which is kinda a point of contention about ESO as well, so that's a double whammy).

Good to know about the DRM, I'll inform any of them that are playing.

Yeah, I felt like I got to the end. Good times though.

Was first on Uno to post a +10.

Two Weeny Loonies.

What it looks like if you have "other player effects" on.

Finally, the Desert in the game named Black Desert.
