Black Screen During Driver Update :(

I reinstalled my laptop back to factory settings, and I wanted to update the GPU drivers. But when I try, the screen turns black during the update, but the computer is still running. I was forced to turn off the computer and turn it back on. I used system restore, so now I'm using the default drivers that came with the laptop. Can you guys suggest anything?

Hi

You have not included the make and model of the laptop and or the driver version number in your post?

nb: go to the manufacturer web site and download drivers

It seems to be a newer driver than what you are showing in your post.

ATI/AMD drivers do that flicker normally when installing drivers. The display is supposed to come back on 5-20 seconds later.

Restarting a computer while installing drivers can corrupt the operating system.

This happens to me if I'm running two monitors. All I have to do is wait for the screen to go black during the ati driver install, and then swap my main HDMI cable to the second monitor and the picture pops up. Once I reboot the picture will be back at the main screen.

I have no idea why this happens but it does and it only happens with ati. (In my experience)
