At CEDIA 2007, Sony tried to get more investors in on Blu-ray technology by presenting them with current sales figures. While it is true that Blu-ray is getting quite a lot of support, with exclusive deals from retail giants Target and Blockbuster, Blu-ray is nowhere near as popular as Sony wants you to believe. In the graphs that Sony does publish, they claim "more than twice the sales of HD DVD" and a much higher market share. However, if you look closely, the Blu-ray market is very unstable, and a current recession might even put HD DVD ahead of Blu-ray. A closer look at the market share graph shows that for several months, HD DVD had a much larger market share.

problemis alot of the blu ray titles are just re releases of stuff alreadyon dvd. Im not really interested in rebuying the films i own again as the dvd upsacaling on ps3 works pretty well.

concidering price of blu-ray films, the only ones ill buy are new film releases (which few and far between) , and maybe the od good film i dont have on dvd. Transformers would have been a deffinate, but they lost that to hddvd :/

Blue ray will fail if Sony can't get any games made for the PS3. My PS3 sits and collects dust, waiting for games, and since my dvd player upscales images beautifully, why pay more for a blue ray disk of some old movie?

newer movies coming to bluray will help sales. like for instance, HDDVD will get a boost with the transformers movie, which was bad ass btw.

What about Warhawk? I just played that today and the online gameplay is AWESOME. It takes about 5-10 minutes to learn the controls and another 10-15 minutes to become smooth with them; there are lots of servers to play on and graphics are on par with what I would expect from a PS3 game :)

The controls of warhawk are lame. The game's borring. My PS3 Still collects dust (except when I watch Apocalypto on BD).

The fact that standalone HD-DVD players are keeping up with Blu Ray if you include the PS3 sales #'s truly astounds me:eek::eek: And makes me happier and happier that im choosing HD-DVD over Blu-Ray. And if it werent for the PS3 Blu-Ray would be dead right now lol but its still only a matter of time before bluray dies lol.

As much as i would love to have a dual format player there are things hindering it right now lol.
1.) Being that its so expensive, the LG model even after its $200 price drop still costs $1000 ($999 if you wanna get technical on me lol)
2.) The fact that it doesnt support all of the HD-DVD special features most notably picture in picture displays
