So I bought a new Bluetooth headphones the skull candy uproar since my old one isn't working. It came with only the headset and usb charging cable. The problem is I can't seem to pair it to my pc. I have windows 10 by the way. There is no Bluetooth on off button in windows settings. I went to device manager but there us no icon for Bluetooth. I did everything I knew but none of it worked.I can post pictures if anyone needs. An alternative might be a Bluetooth dongle but I m not sure I'd it would work plus I paid $50 so don't wanna spend more

I looked up on Internet and many people seem to have issues with windows 10 and Bluetooth. I thought of asking here knowing my UK friends are smart.

Anyone have any idea of how to get Bluetooth to work on my pc.

PS don't curse windows 10. I already know it's a mess and not a very good os.

A couple of questions.

1. Is this a desktop or a notebook?
2. If it's a desktop, do you have Bluetooth dongle? Most desktops don't have built in Bluetooth.
3. Have you installed the driver for the Bluetooth device? If not, then it won't show up.

As long as the correct driver is installed, it should work just fine.

Change drivers. That's the key.

A little different than your problem maybe but I had a problem with a steelseries BT gamepad, I bought a cheap dongle for it, it only came with the shitty software "BlueSoleil" and this didn't work for this gamepad.
Bought an Asus BT dongle (didn't cost much more) and now I was able to pair the gamepad in windows instead of pairing in "BlueSoleil" with the other dongle.

I should add that my laptop is pre Windows 10 and their isn't any Windows 10 drivers for it at all on the support page.
Windows 10 installed the drivers and all works as it should. Including BT.

If the op is using the pc listed in the system spec then the gigabyte z97x gaming 5 mobo does not have built in BlueTooth.

It also seems like the headphones did not come with a dongle so inless they buy one not much else can be done.

If we are talking about the machine as described in your system specs the answer is simple... Your MoBo doesn't come with a Bluetooth chip.

That clears it up. BlueTooth dongle it is then.

And don't buy the cheapest ones!
Since they come with shitty "BlueSoleil" software and you can't find any bluetooth option in windows.

Asus BT dongle works fine.

Well in this case it isn't directly about the "hardware quality" of the BT dongle, it's more about the software/drivers that comes with it.
If you have one with this "BlueSoleil" software you will not see it in windows devices and so you can't pair your device from within windows but instead you need to pair your device from within the BlueSoleil software, from within this software your device does not communicate with windows. A BT dongle with this software is only good for connecting some phone and do some file transfers.

Kinda, but I was going off some of the crap hardware friends had purchased in the past that fails after a few weeks.
Non of it driver related either. All poorly made in non Western countries.

My computer specs are as listed in the profile. I think all of you guys are correct. I don't have built-in Bluetooth in mobo.

I contacted skull candy headphones and thy have told me if I do not have built-in Bluetooth, I would need a dongle which supports at least a2dp. I do not know what the heck that means. I have a feeling I would need more than a cheap dongle.

Anyone suggest some a2dp adapters. I searched but don't know what a2dp is so couldn't make a decision

  • Support A2DP for Wireless Stereo Music Playback

Edit: This is a dongle with old BT version I see now, but I'm sure you can find a Asus BT4.0 version.

Edit2:

@aasim1111 I have this one, it doesn't show that it supports A2DP in the specs but I think it'll work, otherwise send a mail to Asus and ask.

Thanks bro. There is no driver for my headphones tho so do I just install drivers for this usb? How will my device be discovered?

You just need to install the driver that comes with the BT adapter, even better download the latest version from the manufacturers website.

I actually gave up using my bluetooh speaker in Win 10 because so many issues (BSOD, random disconnect, delayed sound, etc).
There was no problem in Win 8.1, maybe just driver things. Now i use aux cable into my supposedly wireless speaker

It goes like this:
1. Buy BT adapter. I have 3 BT/Wi-Fi combo cards. 1 unrecognizable, 1 give BSOD, 1 running fine. So make sure you buy compatible and supported dongle/card.
2. Install BT driver. Win 10 will install it automatically plug n play.
3. Turn on BT toggle in Settings - Device - Bluetooth.
4. Put your headphone into pair mode. Refer to manual.
5. Headphone will show up in BT settings. Click 'Ready to pair'. If asked code usually 1234 or 0000.
6. Change playback device in Control Panel - Hardware and Sound - Sound - Playback. Set your headphone into default device.

We experience way less problems with Bluetooth under Win10. Win7 had way more issues in this regard.
