...barely. It survives because of courier corporations like UPS ordering them for freight thanks to increasing internet orders turned into shipments.
What's most interesting is that Boeing 747 may actually outlive Airbus A380 (a much newer aircraft) because the A380 does not have a freight version available like the 747. Orders for 747 in its passenger role have almost completely dried up and the same is true for the A380. If you need a big cargo plane, 747 is really the only way to go (even Antonov doesn't offer anything to compete).
Two 747-8 aircraft are likely to be ordered in the near future to replace the existing SAM 28000 and SAM 29000 (aka Air Force One when POTUS is on board).
