So I just built my new computer last night and started it up and everything was working well, but then randomly my pc would freeze and I would have to shut it down manually and then turn it back on manually. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but 4 out of the 5 times it happened I was running Minecraft. I'm not sure what to do and any help would be appreciated! Here is my part list as detailed as I can remember:
Intel i7-6700k
Crucial 2x8gb ddr4 ram
Gigabyte LGA1151 H170-D3HP
Rosewill CPU fan(pretty cheap, like 12$)
Seasonic M12ii Bronze 80+ 520w psu
Samsung SATA 256gb SSD
Gigabyte pci-e wifi adapter
I do not have a standalone GPU, for there is one built into the mobo.

Thanks everyone!

Might I add that as of right now my reset button on the case isn't working... must have put it in the wrong way into the motherboard. Thought I'd add this in case it's causing something to short for some reason

Easy to rule out a graphics card lol.

The reset button is a momentary on/off switch so the direction shouldn't matter. Have you fixed it?

What's your OS?
Are you overclocking?
Have you looked at your CPU temps?

i'd love to see the GPU built into the mother board!!!The GPU is built into the CPU.
your issue is a windows Error, link https://www.google.com/search?q=Kernel+Power+error+41&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b
Sorry I meant graphics card, not GPU. As you can tell I'm not an expert at computer maintainence. And I have researched the windows error for a while but I can't seem to find a solid solution.

Are you saying that the problem has to do with the OS and is not due to faulty hardware *cough* psu *cough*?

I haven't fixed the reset switch on the mobo yet, but I plan to tonight.

I run windows 10
I'm not over clocking, just using factory settings
I checked my CPU temps and it only gets up to a high of at most 55-60c

Haha, yes, the gpu is in the CPU. A graphic card is a gpu... lol.. the one you are using is in the cpu.

Why you bought an unlocked cpu with a locked board... curious...

Anyway, the issue... only happens when playing minecraft you say?

The psu you bought is great quality and PLENTY of power (you won't be breaking 150W). So I doubt it's that.

Try a stress test for the cpu, Prime 95 stress test, small fft.

Does this restart happen on any other games? Have you tried updating your intel gpu driver?

I bought a locked board just because it was cheaper than also buying a graphics card(also it's what my brother got when he build his PC and it's working pretty well).

And it's not so much of a restart, but more of a complete freeze. The whole system will freeze, not able to use keyboard or mouse or anything, so I have to press and hold the power switch to shut it down then back on. Also, it did happen once when minecraft wasn't open, but the game was open the other 4 times.

Haven't checked for a intel GPU update but I can do that tonight.

I'll try a stress test when I get home as well.

Based on that info, get your case headers sorted out.

First guess is faulty RAM module
Second is PSU
Third is a motherboard priblem

I bought an orange because I wanted to drive a car is what you said up tbere.. completely unrelated things. Lol...there are boards (z170) which have Display outputs on them to use the cpu's gpu and allow you to overclock it. I digress..

It's not the psu.. at least there is no way in hell that would be the 2nd or 5th place I would look...

How would you suggest I figure out what the culprit is? Are you sure it's a hardware malfunction?

Maybe, judging by the behavior it sure could be.

Ram is fairly easy but painstaking. Remove sticks one at a time (or two at a time then swap if you have 4 modules to narrow it down). Test the system each time. Process of elimination.

I just remembered checking the task manager and with mine craft as the by far largest memory task with about 2gb(out of 16), and it said 25% of my memory was being used, which would mean 100% of my memory would be 8gb which leads me to believe one of my sticks maybe isn't working. Not sure though.

Forgot to add, when I checked my system SIV, it was recognizing both 8gb sticks.

Grab cpuid hardware monitor check your temps. Move down to 1 Ram dimm ensure in correct slots. Reset motherboard bios. Try starting. Switch ram slots and even modules if it locks.

I will in a few hours when I get home

Sorry if this makes me look unintelligent, but I don't really understand. I get the part about testing the ram sticks, just not so much about the temperature

So based on the information I've been able to give while I'm away from home for the day, have we come up with a general consensus that there is a faulty piece of hardware? Keep in mind the problem is based off a Windows error

See if you can get a reading on your temperature while running programs. Overheating and voltage drops cause lockups besides bad ram. Even a bad gpu can do it too.

Okay so I should be watching the temperature while I run programs, so which temperatures would be indicators of a psu problem?

Open the program and see.

Check these temps like i do plus the voltage that matches your vcore setting un the bios.

Would you like me to just show you screenshots of those programs like you did? I can do that if it would help

Start reading your motherboard manual and get acquainted with it. Different boards and manufacturers put those settings and displays in different spots in the bios (uefi).
