Bricked and Rx 460...possible to bring back to life?

I flashed an rx 560 bios and the thing is not working anymore. I can't flash the stock bios since the card is not showing up on the pc. Anyone with experience know if I could paper clip this somewhere in order to get it working again?

Thanks in advance!

Looks like there could be some damage to the pcb around the hdmi sticker, or maybe its just the pic... Can you take clear pictures of all the white stickers on the card as well as the heatsink and a shot of the gpu die and vram chips

write the codes/numbers of some of those 8pin chips, one must be the bios chip, you can try the 1-8 pin method, saved my RX480 3 times

Hey guys sorry about the image quality, I will get more pics up soon.

Generaleramon: I think I found the bios chip, it is a windbond 25x20CLNIG 1817

If Im not mistaken I would have to short GND and DI pins, which according to what I've found are the 4 and 5 pins on that specific chip.

EDIT: Seems I have got the wrong information from youtube :D ...it would still be pin 1 & 8 as you've said Generaleramon.

You're not clear, oven baking sometimes SAVES graphics cards, or do you mean the card has overheated?
In any case luck will surely be needed...

Yeah, I've heard about people fixing gpu's by putting them in the oven for a bit. I think I'll leave that one as a last resort :D

This is actually an HP oem Rx 460 which I found on ebay for 52 bucks (with shipping) USD. Not a whole lot of money on this thing, but I do hope it can be saved. I took more pics btw

See here.

I'm still experimenting with alternate methods that don't use the test clip(which sucks). I've found the pogo pin contraption isn't much better(and might be just as bad, or even worse, I haven't had any success with it yet, whereas the clip works about 1 time out of 10). I've tried something else recently that works much better than either though. But requires some adjustment to work on 150mil wide chips(like yours). And you need to wire it up manually(the common Dupont type jumper wires work perfect).

Here's that, and those wires I'm talking about.

So that's my current recommendation. I've also ordered some micro grabber test clips that hook onto the individual IC legs. I haven't got them yet. So I can't speak for how good they work. But they should be the best possible method. And will likely be what I recommend using in the near future.

I ordered these, and these.

I'm seriously considering starting a BIOS recovery service at this point. I've got pretty much all the tools required to flash any BIOS chip used in the last 20 years. And can even source and replace many of them if required. In fact, as I've already offered before, you can send the card to me and I'll fix the BIOS for you for free. All you need to do is pay for shipping both ways. As a sort of promotional deal I suppose. PM me if interested.

Yeah the paper clip method didn't work....so damn hard keeping it on the right place(or what I think was the right place). I think you'd do well with that recovery service :)

its an oem card I'd say you will be out of luck unless you can find the oem specific bios. Do you have another GPU you can use to get into windows with the 460 in another pcie slot?

I have saved the original .rom file so I would be able to re flash that. The problem is that the pc/atiflash says adapter not found. I do have another gpu and an x58 motherboard with 2 pcie x16 slots. Tried moving both around and only the other one shows up.

Only shows up in what? device manager, GPU-z, ATIflash? you will likely need to remove all AMD drivers from the system boot with a spare GPU in primary pcie slot and the 460 in the secondary slot. Then you need to run the cmd line version of amdvbflash from there you should be able to confirm both GPU's are being seen -i is the command I believe

Sorry , I meant to say that my working rx 580 shows up in device manager/gpu-z/atiflash/aida64. The rx 460 is MIA lol.

ok so I haven't removed all drivers from windows 10...I mean my rx 580...I will remove them using ddu, then boot into windows and see if both gpus show up on amdvbflash. I will have the working rx 580 in the primary slot as you mentioned. Thanks for the help!
