Hello, after I tried to increase the power limit of my gtx 970 zotac AMP! Extreme Core Edition it got bricked because the bios flash failed. Now I'm stuck with bricked GTX 970 and a motherboard without second PCI-E.
Any ideas how to fix it ? Thanks!

Did you make an original BIOS dump?
If yes - then follow this sequence:
1) Reset your CMOS in case you set your discrete GPU as primary adapter
2) plug in your monitor into iGPU video output (on the motherboard)
3) Boot into windows and re-flash with original ROM
4) Poweroff and re-plug the monitor into dGPU and if everything was successful - enjoy while it lasts

If you forgot to make a backup, then you should find someone with the same card and make a dump, or contact ZOTAC support, because I cannot find your card in TPU GPUDB

I'm pretty sure you can boot your PC with your Intel IGP and flash your default GTX 970 BIOS back.

EDIT : silentbogo explained it better.

Use Afterburner rather than bios flashing

This. For 24/7, keep it simple imo. Especially on mid range cards like this

Either way nice to see a happy ending!

Except that the power limits are set in the bios, and have nothing to do with Afterburner....... o_O

Yes and no. Once the BIOS is flashed you can use 3rd party software (normally based on afterburner) to increase or decrease the power limit to the new levels. A bios flash simply give you a new max/min. Afterburner lets you select where on that scale you want to be.

but you also increase the 100% power target.

ie i found my 980TI didn't need/use more than 315 watts when benching. so guess what i did?

replaced 250 with 315 so i do not need to adjust in AB. :)

Exactly...and considering most Maxwells are hitting their heads against the power limit, prompting all the bios flashing to increase power limits, it's not hard to see how the stock bios, even if you're using AB or PCX isn't going to gain you much of anything.

He clearly stated he flashed the bios for an increased power limit. I have to believe he was smart enough to look to see if he was hitting the power limit perf cap in the first place, before bothering to flash to a bios to fix it.....

Again....AB doesn't have anything to do it. lol
