Broken fan blade on 270X

Ok, I just discovered that my 270x has a broken fan blade and makes a terrible racket. I submitted a RMA request with Visiontek and hopes they will just send a new fan. If not, this is about only option I can find as a aftermarket replacement: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835426026

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on this and is there anything else out there.

Wait for what Visiontek says about the RMA. Chances are they'll be happy to replace it for you.

These aftermarket coolers, be it watercooled like the G10 and HG10 or air-cooled like the one you listed, are pretty sketchy when it comes to non-reference designs. Then again, Visiontek usually uses reference design. Just wait it out and see what they say.

You can usually get an aftermarket fan that will be close to the one in your cooler for $5-10 thru NewEgg, Amazon, EBay, etc...

I am going to wait and see if Visiontek will just send me a replacement fan as I can replace it myself. I do not want a whole cooler or RMA the card, just the fan. But in the event that they will not honor the warranty, I just have a backup plan. Thanks for the suggestions!

They will probably want you to send the whole card in. Then they will say you broke it with your finger or some object. If they send you one I will be seriously impressed

You can also use most of the Accelero coolers. Which can be had for cheap if you shop around a bit, or don't mind used from the bay.

Something like:

They are quite nice and silent.

But if you have room and don't want to spend a lot of money:
- buy a nice silent 92mm fan
- remove the plastic shroud from the card
- remove the broken fan
- fasten the new fan with zip ties
- connect said fan to motherboard/molex/fan controler
- enjoy your ghetto fan mode

I know of XFX sending out a replacement heatsink for replacement without having the card sent in, but then again I don't know much of Visiontek's CS and RMA stuff.

Just do what I did when i noticed a friend's ceiling fan only had three of it's four blades. Take one of the blades off opposite of the missing one! (Doesn't work if your fan has an odd number of blades)

I had it for about 3 years before I upgraded to a 9600GSO lol. Loved that X800. One of the best cards I ever owned lol.

The jump from the x800 to 9600GSO wasn't a huge upgrade, at least to me but going from a Radeon 9500 to x800 was huge lol. After the 9600 was a HD5750. I then got the 270x and was blown away at the speed compared to the 5750 on BF4. I used it lightly for mining then went to ASICs. No more mining lol. Kinda odd that I remember my upgrades like that.

I think that you can write an RMA and pay for a new fan. I think that it should work, or just mount a new fan with a zips. Just keep an eye on temps

Visiontek has a lifetime warranty. Hope they do give me a new fan. But if not, Ill buy an aftermarket cooler than zip tie a fan to it lol. Just me tho.

I still have an operational X800 XL PCIE card. Some newer motherboards don't like it though. That still baffles me.

On topic: Can you take a picture of the front and back of the card? Blotch out the barcodes...don't need to see those.

Actually, reason why I held off posting a pic is b/c Athlon X2 got a hold of one of his contacts at Visiontek and got me another cooler and shipped to my house! Now temps are down from to 28C from 70C idle!
