Not sure if this is the right place to post, but since I'm having issue with what seems to be two different pieces of hardware I thought general would be the best place to post this.
Anyway, I'm having a bunch of problems right now, some have been ongoing for a year, others recent:
1. BSODs PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA 0x000005 (common, usually displays dxgmms1.sys or atikmdag.sys,), SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (common, usually displays atikmdag.sys), MEMORY_MANAGEMENT (once, when closing a game) and BAD_POOL_HEADER (once). These occur during gameplay with a variety of games (RIFT, World of Warcraft, Skyrim, Dragon Age 2).
2. System hard crashes/lockups when playing Skyrim, randomly. Can be anywhere from 5 minutes into the game to several hours. Music stops playing, nothing responds, keyboard lights do not light up, forced to power off and on the computer. Significantly higher chance of occuring at the start of the game during the character creation segment. This also occured once when using GPU-Z.
3. TDR kicking in when tabbing out and back in on some games (mainly RIFT), as well as randomly occuring during gameplay in Skyrim.
4. CPU failing prime95 on the same core, anywhere from 3 hours to 48 minutes. When running Prime95 my computer makes a very high pitched whining noise, normal?
5. Windows identifies my 6950 as my old 5770, yet GPU-Z and System information display it as the 6950.
I used to have a Powercolor 5770 and now have an MSI 6950 2GB Twin Frozr III OC, BSODs and TDR occur with both cards. PSU is OCZ StealthXStream 600W.
I've ran memtest for 25 passes, no errors. Ran sfc, no errors. Ran chkdsk, no errors. Ran MSI Kombustor fullscreen extreme burn in for 20 minutes, no problems.
Old 5770
New 6950 which I'm currently using
Max values when playing RIFT
Prime95 failure
CPU temps during Prime95, the 5770 shown is actually the 6950
CPU-Z
Any advice?
