I guess this sorta falls under networking.
But if anyone has any first hand questions here is my home internet/ network setup:

ISP: Starlink
Router Asus RT-AX3000
Switch: Cisco Meraki 16 port POE (plus another GigE 8 port switch on my desk for gaming machine and workbench)
WAPs: Cisco Maraki, Linksys (three total including the Asus router)

It all works together with POE waps on each end of house and one in the middle.

Starlink speeds are quite variable!
Can see speeds as low as 60/20 all the way up to 300/75 depending on how close the satellites are.
Best speeds seem to be when the satellite is between my house and the NOC in Hillman, MI.
Ping times run from 40ms when speeds or slow to 20ms when speeds are good.

Here's hoping that Starlink will become a good alternative for my godawful cable internet.

We're paying $95/mo for "unlimited" (5TB) 100/10. Ping tends to be pretty good, but the service seems much less reliable than cable internet should be.

How often do you have outages and how long do they normally last?

EDIT: Here's what I'm dealing with:

Aranarth, I'm surprised to see you are not are from me. I have a place in Glennie, MI, and have been considering Starlink. I'm currently WFH in the Detroit area, but if we get the green light to WFH permanently I'll be moving up north full time. Naturally, I'll need fast reliable interwebz. Hopefully, as more Sat's are launched, the speeds will be more consistent.

Do you experience any breaks in service? Also, as others have asked, is it priced reasonably?

Kit was $600, Monthly is $100/mo. Going to get a pipe mount so I can put it on my roof. Currently sitting on my back deck.

Still in Beta but getting better! I expect it to be almost perfect by end of summer.
Compared to old interent MUCH faster.
I used a WISP and we got 10/o.6 Mbps (yup 600Kbps up)

We can get outages up to a couple minutes but you usually don't notice when streaming.
Average outage is just a couple seconds or just enough to freeze or drop a Zoom call but not noticeable for web browsing, streaming, or downloading games etc.

Blaylock, I'm south of Big Rapids, MI

I download nearly my entire Steam games collection or around 2/3's a TB overnight for my new machine.
Download peaked at 42.7MBps! (approx 350Mbps)
So far that is the fastest I've seen it go and was surprised to find the whole library completed in under 9 hours.

How are you measuring latency? 20-40 ms over satellite is pretty amazing.

Thats not too bad considering. My ISP is truly unlimited. (no data caps) but its DSL. Fiber is on the way but no timeline on that anymore. Starlink though needs to be reserved for folks in rural areas with no other options or options that are too shitty to meet the needs of the consumer as at most Starlink can support 800,000 customers roughly as its currently planned.

I'm resurrecting this thread hoping for an update.

@Aranarth : You were hoping for perfect by the end of summer. We are now in full fall, have you noticed any improvements? I'm still not full work from home but it's looking more likely every month. The end of this month will be a full year since I've stepped foot into my "at work" office.

Still the odd hicccup. Son can play warzone with his friends and minor issues with lag, movement jumps, or disconnects. Wife was mostly ok during zoom meetings etc teaching ASL to college students.
Paramount+ still a little glitchy. Hulu, Netflix, youtube, Disney+ are all fine.

I'd give it a solid A- bandwidth is awesome, just some drop outs a couple times a week.
Service is about as good as DSL for connection stability with speed about as good as cable but still as good as fiber or cable from Charter etc. in a really good area.
Oh and still unlimited for total usage.
Considering I live in the boonies with Amish farms all around this is the best I've ever had!

I completely understand. OK, I'll call this good enough. I just need work to confirm permanent WFH now. LOL

Thank you for the update and info.
