    "Video Adapter:NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce 405 (256 MB)"

    "nVidia 8500GT"

    eh...??

He could get an i7 system if he doesn't need a monitor for $700, why throw that much money at used rigs?

Also why would you post those .nz (new Zealand) links when his profile clearly says "Location: Austin Texas" so I'd assume a buddy would be from the US as well?

    Anyhow, brb newegg

    ^^

    However, I FUBAR'd and used DDR3 with a DDR2 mobo.

soo, you could find a DDR3 board or go DDR2, makes little difference in speed.

    DDR2

Sorry to say but according to that post he does need a monitor. Just pointing that out and don't mean to come off like a douche.

"He doesn't have to have a monitor" means "He doesn't need a monitor", right?

Perhaps you understood "He doesn't have" instead of "He doesn't have to have", or am I wrong?

You downgraded from a HD4870 to a HD4770 just to have an i5?

I completely digress now, he would definitely lose performance to the previous build.

    Here's my suggestion:

    Total: $691, minus $15 mail-in.

Trimming a little bit in the PSU and the hard drive would even allow for a decent gaming soundcard.

Wouldn't trim much more on the psu but yes definitely can get a really damn good gamer for that budget if no monitor is needed to be included! I totally agree.

Here is also another really good deal:

    EDIT:

Heck may even want to wait and see what HD5k's offer.

Yes, since those are retailling in 2 weeks, that would definitely be the smartest choice for the moment.
