Thanks for the test, smt off is only good if you are sure you will play a game that benefits from it for a long time, beginning to end, around 20 hours or more. So you dont need to go all the time into bios and change it. Few games benefit, nowadays many game engines have added smt in its code to benefit from it. Few games have the inverse, their 1% lows are much deeper if smt is off. Few people on reddit are planning a list of games that benefit from having smt off.

in 2008 when hyper-threading was released, smt off was a must, it was a huge performance impact leaving it enabled on games, you had to turn it off, 5 to 25% or so. Windows and game devs have improved the use of smt a lot.

Since its release, the 9400f is still the best cost benefit modern cpu.
Hi I’m new here! So if I wanna go for real budget gaming pc would you say 9400f + 1660ti is the way to go? I’m gonna little bit of recording and etc but I wanted to know using those combination with a 144hz would be great for a budget gaming pc.

It's a great combo, you can't go wrong with it. At moment the best cost benefit gpu is the 1660ti and cpu stays with the 9400f for gaming, $157 for the 9400f is a great deal.

Yeah I thought so, thanks for the quick reply! 9400f is going for 140$ where I’m at so I thinking building in next two weeks. 1920x1080 144hz should suffice right?
Edit: 140$ not 150$

Most games yes, in some games if 1080p 144hz then a better gpu is needed.

the CPU is fine...the gpu wont push 144 fps....no less than a 2060 super on that front.

They could still get some high refresh with the 1660ti but settings are going to get cut because of it.

to OP: If image quality and high refresh is important than pony up for a higher GPU. Not sure how RX 5700 will compare on price (or performance) but it may be an option as well. You may be able to get an OG 2060 for a decent price before they get wiped out.
