Building a computer from scratch, Need some advice

So, I've been out of computer and parts for some time now, and I am totally lost on what is good and what is bad. I am quite the hardcore gamer, and as I was looking at some reviews some of them were not recommended. So I went in to the date base and look up what seems to be the decent ones. But as I said, I have no idea really, and my choices might make me seems a real stupid. I'm not even sure if my choices are compatible together in honesty

At the moment I am thinking of getting an Intel I-5 quad core processor.

http://www.techpowerup.com/cpudb/661/Intel_Core_i5-750S.html

if these aren't suited, suggestion on decent I-5 quad core for gaming computer would be appreciated

For graphics card, I am thinking

For Mother board

http://usa.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1156/P7H55M/#specifications

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/motherboards/desktop-motherboards/desktop-board-dq57tm.html

and other than that rams would probably be

http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=24_311_312_612&item_id=035851

I have no idea about cooling and power, power I don't think it needs to be over 750w, correct me if I am wrong. And probably dvd/cd-r fused one just in case, I got a ps3 for blu-ray so I don't need to spend a fortune on that. And for the case, my assumption is a case with extra cooling fan would be more ideal for gaming desktop. Please correct me if I am wrong, and I'm looking for some serious opinion. As well as a working computer, my choices might not work together, I'm not too sure, but I am here to get advice so please guide me. Also if anyone is residing in Canada and could possibly get me and estimate for around 1k CND. It would be greatly appreciated

subtotal: $130

Here's a build where you don't have much to worry about overclocking the CPU, but your video card would be more than enough:
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115074 - $200
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148697 - $150
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811156241 - $60
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104206 - $26.50
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138308 - $80
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151096 - $80
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125384 - $345

plus shipping: $1032
plus $130 = $1162

It did get a bit more expensive (especially the hard drive, oh well) but you got a better video card, you just sacrificed the possibility of overclocking the CPU.

i agree on i5 2500k 560Ti combo, but i would also make sure that case has easy to remove filters on intake fans, its good in the long run. like this one

Hi guys, i'll just post my inquiry here since me and the TS have the same purpose.
im planning on getting a new htpc. probably, mitx board + i7 cpu + ati 6990 card.
--Anybody can recommend a specific make and model of mitx, chassis, psu.
--the smaller the chassis the better :) i wont need any ODD.
--budget is out of topic ^^
thanks.

I wouldn't buy dual-GPU card of this gen. You're better off with a 3 GB 580 for it's temps/lower profile and reliability, also given it's an HTPC so you can use CUDA to decode videos with Badaboom etc.

thanks for the input.

video card : 580gtx 3gb
chassis : SG08
hdd : 2.5in momentus hdd or any recommendations?
no odd.
my problem is my motherboad :( i don't know what board to use on that chassis and im not too sure if 600w psu would be enough for the 580gtx.

Asus P8H67-I DELUXE -- is this ok?
