Building a HTPC...

I am at 1.8 right now & if I go over 3, then I think I'll faint. What about Xeon processors? Do they OC better?

socket 775 xeons are just handpicked to be the best ones. at stock speeds they are no different, but overclocking they generally do 100-200Mhz better.

Yes, play limbo with your multis!

Are they the same for games or do they lack?

Xeons are stronger but not as good in games. They are server CPU's.

So if I set my MP at 8x and FSB at 400 I should be better than 11x 273?

In theory you should get a boost between 1 and 5%.

Superpi would be the most reliable way to see a speed difference, so give it a shot!

I have my FSB at 400 with 8x MP and ram divider thing at 2.0 and it seems stable right now. had raise the volts but hey its still cool :) 50c 98% load.

EDIT. 1.325v

superpi would be the best way to see a difference, and give a perfect % on said difference. As long as you have a before and after, we can see how much it helped your system.

I dont have my old superpi I think it was 22s for the 1m tho..

hard to tell if its faster then... you'd only lose 0.5 to 1.0 seconds, and with a vague number its hard to tell if it worked.

Well im sure its better. I know my temps are the same as 3.00ghz im at 3.25ghz right now.

That seems marginal.

Ugh I ran 12 mins and hit an error on prime.. should I raise the volts more?? There pretty high as it is..

your ram and FSB are higher. You may need more volts to them. (nortbridge in particular, ram only if its higher clocked than it was earlier)

How do I add more volts to the NB? btw ran Prime again with more volts and it stopped at 18 mins

My ram is DDR2-800 its at 800 right now, why would I need to raise the volts

your mobo will have a setting for it, just like it does for CPU volts.

NB (northbridge) voltage is in there somewhere.

Yea I still dont see any North bridge overvoltage.. I upped my cpu volts again tho
