Wait for Crosshair IV instead? Get the 965, its only very slightly expensive. Getting to 4ghz, probably more than possible, but watch those voltages.

the build is more than fine. even the 955 should get to 4GHZ with the crosshair III (unless its C2, then 3.8-3.9).

and about what fourstaff said about waiting, id said, yes wait for the crosshair IV... so the crosshair III is cheaper ;)

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to build it in the next 2-3 months so even Phenom II X6's should be out so lower processor prices are likely also. If i get the 955 yes it's going to be c3.

If you don't plan to build it now, well you might wanna revise this in a couple of months, like Fourstaff said, you might even wanna go for the crosshair formula IV, with all its stuff, usb 3.0 et al. And also, for $199, I'd bet that you would take an x6 rather than the 965! But thats just me! The rest of the build looks fine, would be nice to know what you have now though, so that we can compare to see what much of an improvement it might be! ;)

It would be HUGE improvement lolz. I am running Athlon 64 x2 5200+, 2 gigs of ddr2 and radeon x1650 . I can still do crysis 1280x1024 on medium though :)

Oh yeah well when you get it, I'll gladly be the first to welcome you back to the gaming world lol. It will be a real damn good improvement! ;)

id disagree with n-ster, i mean, an hexa core cpu will kick ass... a lot but software is not yet ready even for 4 cores, not to mention 6. My opinion: one of those new zosma quad core would give both, the chance to unlock 2 more cores, and if that doesnt work, just overclock it like hell.

Yea, but eventually software catches up... Look what was being said about quads...

All it means is that the hexacore will last him longer! and at 2.8ghz with all that cache for 199$, it is a great deal. And an OC to, say, 3.2Ghz would be sufficient!

Everything looks great :toast: .... but some option for you to consider if you can spend a little bit more ... :)

Casing --> an HAF932 ... more space ... great airflow ... (but no black interior :( )
VGA ---> good choice .... 5870 is a great card ... but go with sapphire Vapor-x if you can ... great cooling ... and surely you'd be able to overclock it a lot better (nothing against asus :respect: )
PSU --> You could go with the HX 750 instead .... its more than enough for the system you have listed ....

GL :toast:

The reason i went with Sniper infact is those dust filters which HAF is completely missing, that's actually the one thing why i wasn't so fancy about getting HAF coz otherwise great case. Just all that mesh and ventilation and yet no filters :twitch:

You can always get the lil bro the 922. Comes with a dust filter @ the front. Obviously, dust gets in by the side panel but gets kicked out asap @ the back.

Actually if i go with h50 it won't get kicked out of the back :p
But HAF 932 and h50 there comes the problem, i'd need like fan adapter since as far as i know the back fan is 140mm only and h50 ofc is 120mm :banghead:

What kind of cooler would be good for h50 in p&p like is 49cfm and 1200rpm enough or do i need better fans for it?

That silverstone one looks really temptating and the noise isn't that much of and issue since i'm always listening music/playing something so i probs won't even pick it up.
