Building NEW RIG!!

OK all, so I have come to the talented to advise me what THEY would do, I am spending $1500, my last system I built was an AMD and ATI system.. This time I am thinking perhaps Intel and NVidia? or intel and ATI? I am also NOT planning on overclocking at all so the best stock system would be great!!

I will have a keyboard and a mouse, and I do NOT need a monitor. So all I need is a case and everything within.

Thoughts/suggestions? Looking forward to your responses!!

Whatever case looks good to you.
Quad core intel.
SSD.
Motherboard with whatever features you want on it.
PSU with at least 80+ bronze.
Graphics card at least $150.

Yeah, it's really all preference but with that kinda money I'd go intel for sure.

Seems like a lot of motherboard for if your not overclocking.

I would change a lot in that build.

4670k
8GB of ram instead of 16
MSI GD 65 gaming z87 motherboard
GTX780Ti or AMD R9 290x GPU
keep the SSD
get a better cooler.

Your build looks solid..... but....

If you're just gaming, drop to a 4670k instead of a 4770k, and just stick with 8gb instead of 16gb of memory.

If you're not OCing, drop a little less beefy mobo.

Either of those would be fine, but while I ordered the AsRock for my brother (paired with a 4670k), I think I would go with the MSI z87 g45 because I just build my rig around one of them. Terrific onboard sound is what I can say, sounds great, and decent OC-ability too, got my 4770k@4.4.

Either of those would be fine, but while I ordered the AsRock (paired with a 4670k) for my brother, I think I would go with the MSI z87 g45 because I just build my rig around one of them. Terrific onboard sound is what I can say, sounds great, and decent OC-ability too, got my 4770k@4.4.

I think what he means is that you're going to need a beefy cooler, as Haswell chips tend to run hot. Mine does even on custom water so if you're going to be doing any OCing, get the best cooler you can!

Well I also don't want a loud build. how loud are the likes of h60's and h80's??

This is after taking everybody's advice on here and combining. Bit better build?

CM Storm Trooper

Total is $1,881 before shipping, so a little over your original budget but nice nonetheless.

Personally, I swap the 290x for a 290, save $200.

I'm not saying to stay away from the 290x, but I'm saying if you need to save money, you could make that cut. Personally, I have the 290, as I didn't want to spend the extra money on the 290x, and it's a beast.

Also, I ran my 290 for a little while on my XFX 550 PSU (nothing OC'd), and it ran fine. I would definitely think that the HX650 is more than enough. However, I chose that because initially I didn't see the 750m that you had mentioned. I found it after and added it in, and for like the $10-15 difference, going with the TX750m is a good choice (only downside is going from a gold to bronze rating, if you care about that sort of thing).

I did change the mobo from the g65 to the g45, and that choice came from my own experience with the g45, which i'm using now in my main build. It's a very solid board so far, no complaints.

HX650 should be fine

Great advice mate. I do agree with the g45 rather than the 65..the specs don't seem good enough for the extra $60. especially since I am on a budget. How much a difference do you think the 290 would be rather than the 290x? I am sure the 290 would absolutely shred everything currently so I wouldn't really have any problems.
