Mat I'm gonna say this once.

1. BF3 Beta benchmarks mean JACK. It wasn't DX11 so it wasn't CPU intensive as it will be in the final version.

2. If you are gonna upgrade now to any platform get a 2600k. Don't BS with the 2500k.

3. 580 is shit for the price. You are better off with a 570 if you have to have Nvidia or a 6950 if you want AMD. 2gb or go home.

1 Agreed

2 I wonder why you think the 2600K is so worth it over the 2500K? It's considerably more expensive and just offers a slightly higher default clock and HT. And HT doesn't normally do anything for games and can even reduce performance at times

3 I think that's putting a bit strongly. If you can get one for around £330-£350, then they're considerably better value. Buy one for £450 though and it's a different story, lol.

If you're willing to spend the money on a SB-E set-up, knowing that hardware virtualization support will not be there, then do like I am. If you're absolutely itching for an upgrade, and can't wait the three more months for Ivy Bridge, then wait until the new SB processors come out (Intel trying to completely destroy AMD). They may push the price of a 2500k down, and make it an unquestionable buy.

You may want to revise that plan. Reports are saying the 2700k is coming in at a much higher price point, like $420. Based on the preview X79 offers zero IPC benefit over the current 1155. Just an option for a pricey 6 core, which will supposedly be available on 1155 eventually. Honestly it appears to be a totally useless platform outside of the workstation market.

Despite the sata issue 1155 should have a pretty long run as the platform of choice.

imo its the same agrument back then why pick i5 750 over i7 860 but later on ppl that bought i5 750 upgraded to i7 860/870, if you the money might as well buy it and be done with it
