H'ok, so I just attacked by a virus (Funny, I know) and I cleared it up...I'm guessing, and now all of a sudden I can't burn cd's anymore. It's so weird, it burns perfectly for a little while, like it always has done (The burner is about a month old) and then it just STOPS straight away, but it was going PERFECTLY. Now I don't know if a virus is causing this, but I am sus about it. Any idea on how to narrow down the cause? I have tried a different brand of cd, exact same thing happens.

What kind of errors does it give? ie what do you mean with "STOPS straight away"? Does it give buffer underruns or something?

As in, it's going, going, still spinning at the same speed, Doesn't slow down at all and then just says (I'm using nero) Burn process failed at X speed. Also, are there any programs taht will cache an ENTIRE cd in to the memory? That's what I need, I have 2gb of ram, I'd like to use them to the best of a cd burns ability.

Try the drive on another computer, clean the lens, lower writing speed, try different media.
If that doesn't work you could try updating the firmware.

what about this "VIRUS" you just got rid of? maybe you got rid of more than just the virus.

what have you done to get rid of it and did you reload your drivers after?

did you try uninstalling nero and reinstalling it?
