burning smell from h50

I picked a new h50 cooler from bestbuy today and it was working great untill I did a intelburn test and during the 2nd run I started smelling a kind of burnt plastic coming from my PC. I checked it and it originated from the cooler. Now I was getting worried so I stopped the test and the pump started making noises. I turned off the computer now and before it shut down, the PUMP made a weird sound before turning off. Wtf is going on? Has it burnt out in less than 4 hours of use?!

have you checked visually, if theres something melt it should appear, try to remove it all the check visually,
does after the test your rig act something strange, like error, bsod or something that should be
for new thing i guess its coz its brand new and it aint got warm up time enough before you run it on test, its fine just like the stuff is 'shocked'

Did you take the plastic off the base of the cooler before you installed it?

It could be your CPU melting.

(Obviously not... well it shouldn't be...)

My advice is run you PC for a while, monitor the temps and if the problem is still there then I recommend that you replace the CPU Cooler with another one (doesn't have to be something new or serious, just as long as it is fully functioning) and if the problem is gone then you are certain by 100% that it is the H50 that needs to be examined and from there you should decide on whether you need a refund (if possible) or just replace it with something else.

Ya I took the plastic off. And it seems to be working fine now. Idk but my temps sky rocketed from 45-50c idle to 90c in burntest. Thats when I started smelling the burnt smell.

I went back to the store and exchanged for a new one. It's all good now
