Buy a 1080ti now or wait?

I recently sold my 290's (thanks to mining craze )

Now I want a single powerful card.

I have 3 1600p monitor and planning to keep it.

should I get a 1080ti now or is it worth the wait for VEGA? when is vega suppose to be on market?

But I am leaning towards green team now as my 1060 is less headache with drivers compared to AMD.

Vega are going to be snatched up for mining too. I wouldn't wait unless you plan to use your GTX 1060 for 6-12 months. By then, you're looking at Volta being on the market too.

Don't wait.

Vega are going to be snatched up for mining too. I wouldn't wait unless you plan to use your GTX 1060 for 6-12 months. By then, you're looking at Volta being on the market too.

The Vega card will be too expensive and not as good a value proposition for mining. Pascal is also decent (not as good though) due to it's lower power draw.

I would buy it.
Waiting for Vega god knows how long that will take.
1080 ti is an awesome card, Vega at best will barely top it.
Price wise I don't think will be able to undercut 1080ti by much knowing how expensive to produce those cards.

imo I wouldn't wait any longer for Vega at this point. If you want the best then go 1080 Ti. Even if you choose to wait for Volta remember that Nvidia releases their midrange GPUs first which will match and exceed a 1080 Ti on the upper midrange Volta GPU. The Volta Gaming Flagship will be something to see but it is at least a year away imo.

came late, but glad you got well informed! also as many others said, i dont think the price on GTX 1080ti will be cutdown, only if Radeon could match GTX 1070-1080 range they will try to lower the price some pennies, but honeslty i dont thing they could match GTX 1080 at least...

I do think you'd save money by waiting, but the question is by how much and there's a good two month wait until Vega, so there's no absolute right or wrong about this. I'd recommend getting one of the cheaper variants though, as they're really expensive otherwise.

There is always something new over the horizon, by the time Vega comes out Nvidia will probably have something else scheduled for release, it never ends.

Well price here in korea wont be affected by any sales. Price remain stand still. Even i buy lets say in US, the price of shiping and custom fees will be almost same as i bought here. And if there is a problem, then i have to ship back to where card was originally purchase.

I didn't know you were in Korea. So no sales end of year there? Not even clearance sales? Just seems odd for a country with so much tech stuff. There's got to be some vendors in your country that get over stocked at times and have to clear it out.

I could do that but 1070 is not enough for 3x1600p as far as i know.

I doubt 1080 Ti is either, depending on target framerate.
3 x 2560 x 1600 = 12,288,000 pixels
3840 x 2160 = 8,294,400 pixels
48% more pixels than 4K.

AMD shouldn't have even bothered talking about Vega so early on at this point with how much they've delayed and continue to delay the release. I don't know their reasoning behind it but starting a buzz about a product way before release makes little to no sense if people will have forgotten about or lost interest in the product by the time it releases. Personally, I want Vega, however, at the rate things are going Nvidia will most likely have something to release at the same time that crushes it.

I'm very pleased with my MSI 1080Ti. It actually allows me to game at 4k with a steady frame rate of 60FPS on all but 1 or 2 games.

The thing that freaks me out is how cool it runs, and how quiet the fans are at 50-60%. My card never goes over 60-65C.

I played BF1 for 2 1/2 solid hours today and it was staying around 62-63C. All settings on Ultra, and a rock solid 60 FPS. It's a great card.

I would get one now unless you have a lot of patience or just don't want Nvidia. I am willing to go either brand. So I am truly quite anxious to see what the Vega can really do. Cautiously optimistic you might say.
