Buy GTX 1080 on sale or wait for Vega?

Hi everyone!
I am in a bit of tough choice here. I know that there is no exact release date for AMD Vega yet (as far as I know). However, there is a Gigabyte GTX 1080 on sale at my local hardware store, 17% off.

Do you think it would be a good idea to purchase with a 17% discount or hold back until Vega is released?

Any recommendations is much appreciated!

Probably 3 months for Vega. I'd figure you would use a 1080 enough in that time to recoup the costs if you want to switch to Vega, especially if you need a card now. With currently using a 390 on a 1080p screen you could probably just wait it out.

AMD Vega being so close to release, I'd wait. Unless you really get a killer deal on that GTX 1080.

The cost after discount is 708 USD, but since I live in DK there is a 25% tax on it. (Included in price) so the real cost would be 531 USD I guess.

Also yeah, I could wait it out. I am just unsure of how much more powerful the vega will be, and what the price tag will be on a brand new card like that. Therefore, this deal interests me.

As erocker said, although waiting i think is better as the 1080TI gets released the 1080 should get cheaper too.

Vega probably wont be released before mid to end Q2 so I'd say if your R9 390 is no longer fast enough upgrade now but if it's still fast enough wait a couple of months.

It comes down to whether you need to upgrade now or not.

Im going to wait for Vega and the 1080 Ti to drop the price some more before I purchase anything then.
My current card can handle gaming well enough, although not at the highest graphics lately.

Sorry for speaking Danish to a fellow countryman, but basicly I told him to wait until we know what Vega can do. I know for sure Im waiting to see what Vega really can do.

We already know what GTX 1080Ti will be. They simply can't make it faster than Titan X(Pascal), otherwise they'd be shooting themselves in the foot. So, from this, you can already predict what Vega will be. Besides, things are actually known about Vega. Not really for GTX 1080Ti. Unless NVIDIA plans to release it without any noise. Which is equally unlikely.

Strange way of calculating tax you have in Denmark. Because in the rest of the world it would be 566,40 USD.

Pretty nice one, Cheapest in my country is around 910 USD. IL Tax is around "18%" - but not really...

Also take into consideration the fact they just calculate $ = €. The gap is smaller now, but it used to be huge and Europeans were punished for it quite badly.
