Buying AMD Stock?

Is it right time to buy AMD Stock?

never into stocks but all friends around me keep talking about Stocks and how to play with it.

Zen seems promising, should I take a chance?

I'm riding the AMD train right now, but I do not know if I would suggest investing now or not. Depends on how you think Zen/Vega are going to do. Moody's just increased their credit rating to B3, so that is a good thing, but the huge increase after the Moneyline article I think has stabilized, so don't plan on making a lot on a quick flip.

If you think Zen/Vega are going to hit the mark, I think now is the time to buy (last January was the PERFECT time to invest at $1.99/share), as I believe the stock has room to grow, but could also tank if Zen/Vega are a Bulldozer replay (which I do not anticipate).

The right time was when it was under $2. I bought when they acquired ATI years and years ago at $14...and then the stock tanked. Luckily, or stupidly I kept doubling down and buying to blend and balance...So I'm pretty happy right now. However I do think if AMD's next products fully deliver you will see the stock push towards $40.

I'm moving a few grand into AMD shortly, should have done it last week, its already up a few bucks a share. I anticipate it will rise with ZEN release even if its mediocre.

Don't agree with the mediocre stance, but you could be right. AMD has had underwhelming releases for a long time and soured their fan base, more cpu than gpu of course, but they need a home run in the cpu area.

I need a lot of things, but wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which fills up first. Its great they need a home run, and I hope they get it, but their past is marbled with craptacular offerings after huge promises.

I could see $40 if they get .10/share earning. I was buying all the way up to $9 i think my cost avg is under $6.52. If the numbers look good i will pick up more.

Yeah I got in on NVDA at $11 but sold at $85...still a nice return...can't look back like that just be glad you make a nice profit and move on.

IF AMD crushes it out of the park it will go up to $30+..IMO.

IF AMD is all marketing hype, then expect the AMD to drop back under 10 and NVDA to climb.

As possibly the biggest AMD booster (not fanboy-I'm realistic about their products) on this site AND someone who has made some money on AMD shares over the last 20 years (2000, 2005, 2009 and now), I'd say that yes, the time to get in was back in March of 2016, as I did. Loaded up with as many shares as I could afford, and although I've done a couple of quick trades in AMD a couple of times since then to make some extra $$, I've been essentially long the whole time. (I just sold out yesterday at $13.66, for example, but I did so with the intention of hopefully buying back in on a dip.)

This would of course, be my advice to you. If buying today or the next few days, try to wait for a nice dip down to the low $13s if it happens. If not, and you pull the trigger at it's current ~$13.66, good for you, but in any even, be prepared to hold the stock until the end of 2017 if you want to really maximize your investment. As has been suggested on several investment sites, the expectation is that if Zen is good, AMD should be able to sell enough and make enough profit to justify ~$25 share price. Obviously, they could do even better than anticipated, and break through the $30/share level, or they could run into some difficulties and never make it past their current level. But Lisa Su seems like an extremely hands-on CEO, and I can picture her actively managing every aspect of this launch. In short, there are very few 'sure things' in the stock market, but AMD hitting a home run with Zen may be one of them. My run from ~$2.21/share (average cost) last March to $13.66 yesterday may have been my best ever market bet, perhaps even a once-in-a-lifetime home run, but I do believe the stock has got yet another double in it, if you can wait 9-12 months or so.

And always remember. NEVER invest money in the stock market that you cannot afford to lose. NEVER.

With all the info we have right now, using nvda p/e AMD would be a $20 stock with just a .05 earnings. 2018 forecast is .27
but I think they will be higher starting 2017.

$26.73 is the Target Price for the end of 2017. This is info from a Hedge Fund Manger If the economy stays study if we end up in a down turn $4.05 is his lower price.

I'm predicting that 2017 is remembered as the year AMD returned to relevance. Their decisions over the last few years have been spot on. This is resulting in the tsunami (some describe a tsunami as a wave that just keeps coming) of products from AMD this year. I don't think anyone in their sales and marketing departments is getting any vacation this summer. They've just released their high end desktop processors. They still have their mid-range and low end processors to go. They have VEGA, laptop processors (think people aren't salivating over 8c16t workstation laptops?), workstation and server platforms to go. Then there's iGPU....... Their biggest problem this year may be that they have too much going on and may overwhelm themselves.

Of course, a few negative reviews will affect stock prices because they didn't meet expectations, when the consumer market interest stays steady, prices will rise again.
