I mostly agree with ya Rocker, however I am not much into the pay every month to play a game let alone a racing sim. Now I will say that iracing is an awesome simulation of racing!

I wish someone would come out with an awesome NASCAR sim game again. None of the damn EA crap (NASCAR 2004 & NASCAR sim) will run on Windows 7. NASCAR 2004 will somewhat run, but it is windowed. We need another good NASCAR sim racing game that a person does not have to pay monthly.

I've been waiting for the official C.A.R.S. announcement for a long time! Ya part of why I steered clear of iracing is the money to invest...I'm just not that hardcore about it I guess. Looks amazing, I'm sure it's worth it for fans that want to be in the thick of a realistic simulation.

CARS looks extremely promising as well...SMS has a pretty solid background and I have no doubts about their future work. Just gotta decide between Junior or Team to show my support.

If you have a wheel, get RACE07 $6.00, or Race07+GTR Evo for $19.99 on steam, although steam might be playing up atm.
These are proper racing sims, and there's heaps pf cheap expansion packs, and scores of free mods for cars and tracks.

Iracing is from the former Papyrus founder and game engine builder Dave Kramer and he has John Henry (yes the dude that owns the Boston Red Sox ) As a backer,If they do a NASCAR sim i want it from Dave ,The way EA took the rights to NASCAR sims way back in late 03 (NASCAR Racing 2003 is still the best sim to get)Hurt him big time, and that ran out for EA after not releasing any games since 2004 which pissed Dave off to the point were any guys doing mods for NR03 would get a lawyer on his butt,Iracing uses most if not all Nr03 game engine(maybe the tire models and NASCAR rules were updated to current ones)Dave had to sue Activision in the mean time to get his precious NR03 engine back too at this time. That is when he said F!ck it i will go WOW for my next sim.
But nope no good NASCAR sim ever again,If you want one you have to pay Dave a lot just to race online again,Me i was ticked and still am at the way it all unfolded.:nutkick:

I never liked the way the FFB felt with GTR evolution. Though maybe itll be nicer with my fanatec wheel.

There hasn't been a good NASCAR game (or Indycar for that matter) since the Papyrus days (before they got bought out by Sierra). That was also the end of the Microprose/Geoff Crammond years.

I installed Grand Prix II on a legacy machine the other day. Still amazes me how much more simulation and enjoyable it is in contrast to F1 2011 or rFactor with the F1 mod.

Somethings are just classic for a reason.

As for C.A.R.S. it's got two things going against it.

A) It's based of Shift.. so..yuck toilet..
B) The damn name makes me think I'm playing some Resident Evil with a driving mod.

i mean the game needs more FPS to run smoothly, or that guy does not have the necessary hardware.

Race sim....no, no way.
b144 is just plain bad from a sim pov.
Terrible driving model, terrible FFB....

Shift2 has a better driving model, granted some of the cars in S2 sway etc, but as a sim, this is an outright farce.

Before anyone says, "hang on, why not give it more time"....my answer is, "for what?".
All they had to do was eliminate the sway and work a bit on the excess oversteer from Shift2, and you'd at least have a very good simcade model, but as it stands, pcars is just plain bad.
The brakes suck, completely lifeless, and the driving model is all over the place depending on the car.

So, if you're a casual racer, you might well enjoy this, but I can't imagine any sim fan rating this, and as I said, they could've had the driving model ready by now simply by fixing the S2 problems and instead of building more bad cars, just build a slow one and a fast one with good FFB and driving model.

The sway in shift 2 made it undriveable, I couldn't play it anymore it angered me so much.
When I played build 124 I thought it felt pretty good, but needs some improvement. Then a month later, a large amount of FFB updates. The feel of the wheel is much improved.

When you say the driving model is all over the place depending on the car, well all cars handle differently than others. Especially when the cars maybe Formula A, B, touring cars, Le mans racers, etc. Maybe explain what you mean by this?
