Those are just pics. Your thread title says "review" so we are expecting benchmarks of what kind of performance to expect out of such card.

date is 30 / 07 / 10 on the engineering sample, can someone tell us how long its been since the engineering samples and last generations and the releases? does this mean low end cards will be released first?

NM just checked

the 5000 engineering samples had dates of 10 / 06 / 2009 aka June 10th

so 6000 engineering sample release on july 23rd + 3 months 13 days...

if a similar trend is followed 30 / 07 / 10 + 3 months and 13 days

November 12th release date (+ or - 1 week)
(extrapolated)

That heat sink reminds me of the head sink off the 5450 reference card that went around to every review. First thing I thought when I saw it was: expensive.

Same thing here, don't expect to see this at retail. Expect a normal entry level heat sink on these cards.

64-bit? Wow, not good at all. I would think 128-bit for these cards seeing how the other cards that used to be 128-bit will now be 256-bit.

>64bit bus or GDDR5 would make little sense for a card like this. Even GDDR3 would be overkill. Plain DDR3 works fine for such a 2D focused card.

and i dont fucking get why everyone has started coloring the heatsinks.
this reduces the rate of heat exchange between the air and the heatsink, thus reducing its effectiveness. and mine is even a black. black objects are supposed to absorb most heat, and silver bodies radiate the most heat.

and i dont fucking get why everyone has started coloring the heatsinks.
Or why the color of computer parts is such a big deal for some.
this reduces the rate of heat exchange between the air and the heatsink, thus reducing its effectiveness.
Hardly any heatsink is painted. If it's aluminum the color you see is the result of small amount of dye in the solution used in anodizing of the heatsink. Anodizing itself has much larger impact on heat dissipation than the color in it.

(...) black objects are supposed to absorb most heat, and silver bodies radiate the most heat.
Actually, black bodies radiate and absorb most effectively. More reflective = less emissivity.

If you need every inch of performance you obviously won't be buying a card like this.
This thing only needs H/W resources required for video decoding and such.

+1, why buy a 6300 series card for gaming? it will be capable yes, but you would'nt want one if you were building a machine for gaming.

and as you say, DDR3 will provide plenty of bandwidth for a card like this, there are AMD cards and integrated gfx chips with far less that can already decode HD video etc.
