Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc., announced today that Call of Duty: Black Ops II has crossed the $1 billion mark in worldwide retail sales, according to Chart-Track retail customer sell-through information and internal company estimates. Illustrating the strong appeal of interactive entertainment to audiences worldwide, the game achieved this milestone in just 15 days after its launch on November 13, 2012. "In order for Call of Duty to remain the entertainment juggernaut that it is, and keep our fans coming back for more, we need to continue to bring fresh ideas and new innovations to the table every time, while always staying true to what people fell in love with in the first place."
Oh Activision, you know not what you say :')

I bash COD usually, mostly because of the douchebag casual playerbase. I think this is why it gets so much hate.

You can't argue that the COD games are damn good, very well polished games. I always enjoy the single player, though the multiplayer has grown a bit stale.

In singular form, CoD is a good arcade shooter, it is simply the fact that they release content as whole new games instead of expansions (as that is all they are, updates to textures, added weapons, added maps, and added campaign) and charge you the price of a full game, and then claim they are coming up with fresh new ideas and are "driven" by their playerbase. In actual fact we all simply know they are milking the cash cow by releasing game after game at full price within short spaces of time. I simply dont buy it, but i always play each one for a couple of hours so i know my arguement is valid.

Yeah, it is hard for something to become legendary. In 20 years we will remember CoD as a cash cow, instead of a great game.

They have had plenty of time to polish it. They have released the same game about 10 times now.

What are you talking about? Its takes a lot of work to roll around in $100 dollar bills with super models and still change a 12 year old game engine just enough to fool everyone once a year.

I don't understand what people like about the COD series nowadays. (It's the same feeling as I fail to understand what people like about watching TV shows btw). I'm not comparing them to other games, nor am I superior or a genius who is there to judge what the world should like, but I find this game very very stupid, and I can't help it.
It's all about aim. There is no movement, no brain, no team-control, nothing is involved just pure randomness and aim. It's pretty much the blasphemy of the old arena shooters, it's all about brainlessly administering all kind of bullets (using all kind of weapons) into the other players. How is that might be any fun to anybody is simply beyond me.

I know it's a first world problem and I honestly happy for everybody who loves these games and I also truly respect the devs who are doing a flawless job indeed, but I'm gaming since online games exist, and I still feel so isolated and old seeing news and reports like this. A whole generation loves COD, so they love a game I fail to understand or appreciate:shadedshu

I'm 34. That's the issue. We are old enough to remember when a sequel offered new graphics, new surprises and didn't happen EVERY YEAR. It was a treat to play "Part 2" of something. I remember hearing about Super Mario 3 was coming.........and you could be a raccoon and fly! OMG MARIO CAN FLY NOW?!

There is not to many "OMG MARIO CAN FLY NOW?!" moments in video games anymore.

I indeed loved this type of gameplay with COD4 and maybe MW2.

but what most of us hate the most, is that they keep recycling things every year, adding only little things into it year by year, "milking the cash cow" as they say and even worse they get huge, maybe the largest profits off of it compared to other more deserving games.

They could at least put the profits into good use, like, developing a new engine, entirely new IP, or just release them as damn expansion packs/DLCs not fully priced games

My point is money. EA wants more, so that's why BF4 is going to be even more COD like.
Thats not really news bra.

BF4 Beta will be in late 2013, BF3 was released last 2011. with continuous release of content throughout 2012/2013. we can expect release in 2014-15.

If Battlefield is becoming COD like because of EA as you say, I should be playing BF4 by now.

BF4 Beta will be in late 2013, BF3 was released last 2011. with continuous release of content throughout 2012/2013. we can expect release in 2014-15.

If Battlefield is becoming COD like because of EA as you say, I should be playing BF4 by now.
I'm just stating what I notice. You seem like you want to argue.

DUDE! I got the game almost a year after it came out and WOW! I was so excited even though I was so young! I got my first NES when I was 5 and I murdered like 3 of them along with like 10 controllers and 2 tvs!

That's my point. Games just don't have the magic anymore. They just don't. Its like classic movies with John Wayne, Eastwood, Bogart, Cagney or any of the old actors and movies......compared to today's movies its not even a contest.

Its not that todays movies or games are "bad". Its just they don't have any soul. There is no Mega Man, Mario, Sonic for todays youth. Best they have is "Master Chief".........how sad is that. Put the youth today playing Master Blaster or the original Metroid and watch them have a nervous break down. OMG THATS IT? THE GAMES OVER? NO CONTINUES?! No bitch you just died. Start over. Oh yeah and thats a score in the corner......and your score sucks.
