Yeah, sorry about that. I just came to the realization the other day myself.
We boycott and refuse to buy - we're not a market worth catering to
We pirate it because $60 for 4hrs SP is a ripoff - We're encouraging their anti-piracy propaganda
We cave in and 'just try the game' - we give them vindication that what they did was right, while locking ourselves into short lifespan games, pay-to-play DLC, an already broken anti-cheat system and no ability to enjoy the communities we all enjoyed so much ( I used to join servers just for the players I met there ).
Face it... we're f-ed in the A... Bobby 'Dark Sith Lord' Kotick has made his intentions clear, he wants to turn video games into packaged products. A game that can be modded stays alive for 2-3yrs off the work of modders who don't charge anything for their contributions. Where's the profit in that when millions of tweens will buy a new MW2 every 6mos and every DLC pack in between. Meanwhile the 'hardcore' gamer, the ones who MADE this industry find themselves saddled with debt (mortgages, medical bills, kids... responsibility) and less disposable income. Compare that to the console kids, they put their MS Points on mom/dad's credit card and just grab everything they can (because "it's not like it's REAL money").
Seriously, Bobby and his minions have wet dreams about the new gamer generation. They are complete trend♥♥♥♥♥s who will lap up every new installment of a series regardless of the fact that it's the same engine, mechanics, etc. They don't analyze their purchases, they don't care about tactics, they just want to bunny hop around and teabag all the corpses.
I am so let down by the current trend in the gaming market, I am finding myself praying for another great game market implosion like we saw in the mid 80s.
