Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 | Warzone 2.0 recently released with support for NVIDIA's Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing (DLAA), NVIDIA's Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) and Intel's Xe Super Sampling (XeSS). In this mini-review, we take a look, comparing the image quality and performance gains offered by these technologies.

So far, it appears that XeSS is not all that useful tech for non-Intel GPU's unless for some reason it's the only upscaling option in a game.

Modern games soapy graphics, untoggalable TAA, not cool

It's really drivel, not a game. Same old recent year re-hash, just with more crap. Like the female announcer that sounds like an ad looking for sex, right when you're trying to take FPS to realism using Benelli automatic shotguns.

At least test FSR though... because it's shown to be beyond DLSS by some people when modded in the old game.

Nice to see native images this time!

Would like to see how it stacks up with an Intel GPU. On the Nvidia card, DLSS clearly does better

Funny - I never noticed excessive shimmering while playing on A770 but once your eyes spot the smearing/ghosting you can't unsee it back. Now I'm not playing competitevely and merely doing the camo grind on a 60hz screen but if I did I'd definitely turn XESS off and just dropped down the quality because at times it's like seeing a floating ghost. That's at XESS Balanced, by the way. I also find that it's dependent on both contrast and brightness: 1) it's generally much more noticeable on darker maps like El Asilo or Crown Raceway than on sunny ones and 2) It's more noticeable on characters whose camouflage is similar in color with respect to their backgrounds: beige on sandy Taraq, brown on Al Bagra and Embassy and so on. I have no idea how the tech works but I suppose it's using color data while reconstructing the image.

It's quite different to the old CoDs in the way it plays. I also don't like the ways it's different in - I actually wish it was just a rehash of something from 10 years ago with new maps, but it isn't - gunplay, movement and map design all changed (personally I feel for the worse)

I can barely tell the difference between a lot of these in still screenshots, but the difference in motion is huge. For example, DLSS Performance mode looks great in stills, but I find it unusably blurry in motion.

Conversely, DLAA doesn't look much better than even DLSS quality in the still shots, but it produces a beautifully clean image in motion that far surpasses all the other options.

I've been using the DLAA option at 1080p. I was using DLSS Quality but DLAA provides a much more coherent image in motion.
My only complaint is the trailing artifacts that have always been apart of DLSS.

ALSO THIS PART IS HUGE. I've been able to see other players through certain surfaces using DLAA. Now it's not as simple and clean as actual wall hax. The players will appear like they have active camo, Halo invisible, like the predator. I firmly believe it's the DLAA setting, DLSS may do it as well. It's very subtle and you have to look for it. You can just see their shape, it's very subtle like a stealth boy from fallout. I don't see it every time but I've seen it more than once definitely. I don't know if works through multiple surfaces or just one. I believe it's just one or maybe even just certain surfaces.

Fidelitycas FX works better than all of them no matter what video card you use. Whoever made the article should have taken the time to test the last one to see where the best performance exists. They did a disservice to themselves and the readers for not adding it to the review.

I also use currently FidelityFX CAS at 50% and it helps a lot with the blurryness of the game... But I would like to use DLAA, but IDK if it adds some latency

It does look nice, and doesn't seem to hurt performance enough to worry about.
It's out of the scope of the article, but I agree it would have been nice since this is mostly about image quality.

For me, it does seem to add some latency. For me all the rendering modes show 8-9ms GPU time, except DLSS which cuts that to 5ms.

There are plenty of options to test out in this game. I wish it had FSR 2.
I'm more interested in how the upscaling methods work on older cards. Can DLSS help a 2060 or even 3050? Can anything help a 1060 or 580?
I saw a MW2 ultra settings benchmark that had the 580 beating a 1070 at 2k, and beating a 1080 at 4k :O

I don't like DLSS because of the ghosting it introduces and probably DLSS reduces latency because it is rendering at a lower resolution and it makes it render faster
