Just was browsing the steam store and noticed COD: MW2 coming out this year. I am confused, I already own a COD: MW2 from 2009? Am I missing something?

its supposedly some sort of remaster or 'reimagining' of the original.

According to various sources of the internet. Activision is looking at remastering all the old call of duty games - Pre-Activision ones included.... especially pre-Activision ones. So they get to leave their dirty Activision stains on it.

Modern Warfare II is a sequel to the Modern Warfare remake that came out in 2019. This will be a remake as well so it won't be the same as the Modern Warfare 2 that you have.

It's not a remaster it's a remake. People commonly get those two confused.

I guess I didn't know there was a modern warfare remake... the industry must be out of ideas.

they are, but the graphics on this one in particular look absolutely insane. I hate the CoD franchise personally for being a milk machine, but I had a lot of fun with Black ops 1-3, and MW3 back in the day... rest of them didn't interest me.

I am honestly tempted to give this one a go, just because the graphics are legit insane looking. Can't imagine it maxed out on a high end system with a nice OLED panel like that Alienware Ultrawide. sick.

I believe the single player story will be expanded upon as well, and I will enjoy that a lot. I am probably one of the only CoD players who loved the single player campaigns.

Well as long as I can play 2 player local coop and blow away the terrorists from the gunship using night vision in brilliant 4K then I am for it.

I saw it on the Steam store landing page earlier today, apparently it's at open Beta stage and they want your money for the game and give you access to the beta in the meantime (I think).

Pre ordering gives you access to the MP beta that will likely be a couple days in September.

that it may be, but no other game has this kind of budget to my knowledge, which is why it is unmatched in graphics. everything in life is a double edged sword it seems

Phone users don't buy it !!!!!

MW2 can kiss my a55, I only say that due to the phone error crap, I can't play it, I had to get a refund. If you have a certain phone company you can't play the game, like me I have cricket and can't play due to cricket. The forums says there is no fix for it either. Can't even play the beta today cuz of the phone crap. Just a heads up for folks to not waste there money.

In fact there IS already a remaster of MW2 the original. I actually grabbed it pretty cheap off Battlenet. As for this MW2 I will again wait for a sale on it even if it takes a year. I own pretty much ALL the CoDs but I only buy them for the campaigns.

The genealogy of the CoD franchise's Modern Warfare series is not one of those things I bothered memorizing so I looked it up at PCGamingWiki.com

Original series, a trilogy

2007: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (original game, first of a trilogy)
2009: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (sequel to 2007 game, second part of trilogy)

2011: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (final episode of original trilogy started in 2007)

Remastered

2016: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered (remaster of 2007 game)
2020: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered (remastered single player campaign of 2009 sequel)

Reboot

2019: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (reboot of 2007 game, labeled Call of Duty: Warzone in the Battle.net client)
2022: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (sequel to 2019 game, note Roman numerals, planned release date October 28, 2022)

I played the free beta recently, (this past week) and the first time I loaded the game, it crashed. Then I loaded it and just as I started a match the screen went black. I could hear everything but couldn't see. Closed the game and then started a third time, I got into a match and within 30 seconds, the game crashed again. At this point I uninstalled it and moved on.

Only COD titles I played online are COD 2 and MW, that's about it. Personally I'd also like to see remasters of COD 1 and 2 as those probably have the best campaign stories along with the already released MW and MW2. I'll need a new PC build to play these properly, shame.

Within the past week or so I've watched several Twitch streamers play this 2022 release beta successfully without major issues like crashes or frame rate performance issues. I don't remember what platform they were playing on though; it could have been a console for all I know.

'Unmatched in graphics'? I'm not sure what you're looking at, but all I see is somewhat more definition in lighting on top of the ancient CoD engine.

I couldn't say either but it's pretty rare for my PC to crash while gaming. I wasn't impressed to say the least.

Well, it is still beta. Presumably there will be a large Day One patch when it launches.
