piracy doesn't seem to be a problem on consoles at all. Black Ops sold 18.7 million copies on the XBOX 360 (10.4) and PS3 (8.3). only 930,000 copies were pirated on the XBOX 360 not sure about PS3.

Of course its a problem. Its just that On PC platform its easier to blame Piracy because we are the ones with all the artsy fartsy operating systems with nerds working behind the scenes who write apps that can download the whole of the internets with 1 single click. not forgetting the more advanced tech.

Its easy just to blame piracy when your game totally sucks balls - take Epic Games - the dudes who made Unreal Tournament. Almost all of their UT games have sucked since the original then they turn around and say their leaving the PC platform because of piracy. Piracy is used as an excuse to cover up the fact that the devs/studios cant make a decent enough game. Even if they did make a great game - Piracy will still be there - but not on such a big scale as people who pirate the game because it sucks balls and they dont want to pay for trash.

So say what you want - it always comes down to the same thing again and again. Piracy exists on all platforms but PC platform takes the rap because it is more advanced and has been around for longer. Most studios act like Console Piracy is literally non existant. but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

FYI You can Pirate Dead Space 2 for Xbox 360 and PS3 already...

But as far as I'm aware there is no Dead Space 2 PC torrent.

A simple way, IMO, for developers to beat piracy is make an amazing multiplayer game. Pirated copies only allow you to play Single player (unless you get into some intricate hack in which case you can only play in certain servers). Single player will last a few hours at most, but a good multiplayer game can keep you entertained for weeks and months.

$60 for a $100 mil. game like Starcraft 2 I understand. For call of doodie, the price is completely unjustified. 5million production cost?. Just update the graphics and add a remote control car from the previous version. It's like Madden, the basics just dont change. Such a rip off.

Brink and NS2 are the only FPS games I'm looking forward to this year. BF3 maybe but I'm not optimistic about dice getting back to the basics.

Valve is onto a real winner with Portal 2 on PS3 and giving free copies for them on the PC.

If they could get away from Steam and go back to PB that would be a step-up, next would be to drops the prices of previous releases, MW2 is still $59.99 through Steam wth?? I mean there's milking something and then there's charging full price for something over a year old and second in line. Just my 2 cents as I've played since COD 2. I was late in getting MW2 and was a Level 5 against 70+ or Prestige+ in every game but still like to play when I can. Would love to be able to host games for me and friends without having to buy or rent a server. But I guess they have to make money somehow lol. But will be looking forward to MW3

your probably the only one who thinks thats a good idea - everyone else thinks its a not so good idea - For one, you cant kick people, and you cant promote people to admin. to make sure no ones botting or hacking - people were running around with Aimbot for MW2 the moment it went live and from what i hear, is still a big problem.

Secondly - having good enough internet to HOST a game but hosting a game requires a fairly decent system. My friend who always hosted Co-op games had awesome internet but a really shitty PC, and everytime i joined his games I was just rubberbanding more than stretch armstrong - same thing applies to other game types. players might have great internet but their machines not upto hosting the game.

thirdly - Even though server costs can be a little expensive - if you can get a few friends who play the game to chip in for a server then thats great - if not - then the advantages of having a dedicated servers still outweigh the price you pay unless its a really colossal amount of money.

but overall the whole MW2 online platform hasnt been that great overall. not to mention all the network issues which ive lost count of which have now mostly been ironed out (i hope)


So its always better to have a dedicated server

I enjoy a very limited genre of games, namely First Person War games. As a result, I can't be picky. I'll pick up BC3 as well as MW3, but what I'm looking forward to the most is Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.
