I had a system that was bought 5 years ago, worked fine for a long time, some day I put it away for few month, and try to use it again later, it stopped working, black screen, no mainboard check sound. tested ram, gpu, finally think it is either mainboard or cpu, since I never had a damaged cpu after play PC for 16 years, installed hundreds of PCs. So I think it is most likely the board, I tested the cpu on another board, haha, black screen. no mainboard check sound.

CPU damaged, this is a old 5200+ box edition, using original cooler, never OCed, no visible damage on CPU, no burns etc.

PSU still working, ram still working, gpu still working, did not test the board yet.

what do you think? what maybe the cause of CPU damage.

i never experience like that, but even cpu is die hard there possibility you get 'bad' processor.
i suggest test it with other board just to make sure the err is from your processor

Software A lot.
Benchmark Scores Its fast. Enough.
Tested with a CPU that offers the same wattage draw?

It may be dead, I have had a few, and even though its not often they die sometimes flaws in the silicon cause spontaneous deaths, and or cosmic rays damage them.

when you tested to other board I assumed you check compatability.

anyway, if it is working before, when not try to change the "old" motherboard CMOS. Try changing battery.

Generally, I put it at:
50% power supply
40% motherboard
9% RAM (or compatibility with motherboard)
1% CPU

CPUs do die but it is rare. If you ruled out the first three, all that is left is...

Thanks, for the old mainboard, cleared CMOS, removed battery. still no boot, so I was very much believed mainboard fail, and removed the CPU to another working system to test, but it seems CPU fail.
they are both am2+ boards, one is 780 and one is nvidia 630, can not remember, but they were bought at the same period, will go check if the working system board is supported with 5200+, just checked it support 5200+
how come it was working and just put away for few month, no crush, no drop, no water. and it become black screen.
so far my first CPU fail, not OCed

it is in a metal case, so static discharge are shelled by the case, when put away, i did not take anything out from the case or open the case
