280x is better price/performance, and you get 3gb vram over 2gb on 770 4gb vram version on the 770 is useless because the 770 doesnt have enough bandwidth to use up 4gb vram. (watever that means just passing along information that I know are facts, hopefully someone else will see this and explain it to me
It basically means a 770 will run out of horsepower way before choking out 4GB of VRAM which makes it kinda pointless because it can't fully utilize it. If you have two of them in SLI they can use all that VRAM but the bandwith is too small to handle 4K properly as the GPU isn't being fed quickly enough to render 4K resolution.
Trying to buy a GPU and cant decide on the final pick narrowed it down to Nvidia 770
(Obviously 280x is better but its too expensive) i looking for somewhere in the range of 300 and there really is a large improvement in performance then id be willing to pay 350ish) or 780 or r9 290 these are the most expensive i can afford. Really want to play first person shooter and I have to buy the whole build its why I cant spend too much. ive heard 3 gigs on mem is enough (BTW when prices drop i plan on going SLI)
Thanks
