Can someone recommend a standard fan curve for my GPU?

I use Sapphire Trixx with my Sapphire 6950 2GB unlocked to 6970 shaders and OC'ed to 900/1375 in Trixx with power slider at 20%.

I currently just use a fixed fan speed of 48% as that is the highest it goes without me having to hear it, it seems to do ok, but I just want to be safer with a fan curve.

Is it the stock reference cooler you have or a custom one?

You forgot to set the domain to be [0 , +∞[, since Afterburner doesn't set % values for negative temperatures.

Mine,
But 7970 and even at 100% the two fans are pretty quiet.
Like to start ramping fans early to stay ahead of the heat if possible.

Later:)

Mine is perfect and better than everyone else's! Kidding... seriously though this curve keeps it quiet at low stress levels and cool at high stress levels. Never goes above 70C, and these coolers aren't great.

this is my curve, start with a gradual increase and make it steeper as you enter the dangerous temp range e.g. 85+ and leaving 100% fan for 90ish

I decided to leave the fans at automatic, rarely seen my fans pass 38% and my 6970 at 900/1375 rarely goes above 58 Celsius... so I guess I have no need for a fan curve all said and done... lol

I replaced the thermal paste and screwed in the screws very tight on the GPU chip as well... so I imagine that is helping some, I feel a lot of GPU companies don't screw the 4 screws tight enough for pressure on the GPU from heatsink. You have to be careful, but still, mine is doing great.

That is because it is very easy to over torque the screws and crack/chip the die of the GPU ;)

Honestly fan curves are individual dependent meaning whatever makes you comfortable with sound and temps. You can check out some that have been posted here but in the end you will probably adjust it to your likings.

this is the best of silence and cooling.

Although I don't like waiting for 60C to start cooling the card.

My logic is letting the temp of the card get ahead of the abilty to cool it.
Once the temp gets that high, That late, Might not be able to get it to cool down.
Although all depends on the air cooling of the card.
Ref card or Non Ref multi fans would also make a difference.

Just my take on it.;)

ofcourse you dont get the concept. no need of waiting.

this parabolic graph ensures that temp rise will be linear. and not parabolic ;)

you see when you are saying that it may get too hot that the graph speed wont be able to cool properly. what you are not thinking that if it gets hotter it will move on to a higher graph level..

Set the fan to 20% for everything below 60 degrees.

@ 60 degrees have the fan go to 48%

If over 80 degrees then go to 75% if over 90 then go to 100%

This way the fan will only ramp up under heavy load

You can make smaller steps if you like but that's how I do it.
