Lol just a quick update. Malwarebytes didn't want to install on this pc, but I managed to install Malwarebytes Anti rootkit. First scan it only found 6 malware (but a couple were in the ATI drivers!).
I managed to get rid of the bicoin miners, they were in a fake svchost.exe using 95% of CPU.

Oh... and GPU is working now.

Now doing a second scan - Found 2576 malware so far .

I really should have remembered that this friend of mine never learns and no matter what I tell him he'll always infect his pc really badly, so it's imperative to check viruses before blaming any hardware.

I still haven't managed to turn windows firewall on.

Every 2 or 3 months he gives me his pc for repair, which I do for free since I'm a friend and don't actually work as a tech, and I waste a day or 2 either reinstalling everything or cleaning up viruses.
But I guess this is the last time I'm gonna do it for free... :wtf:

What i would suggest is a clean install and create a backup image of the installation. That way when he gets it completely pasted with all those porn popups you can just wipe everything with a fresh image that saves you hours and hours trying to clean out all the malware crap.

My uncle in HK was the same. Everytime his windows got infested with shite he would just wipe it with a new image.

Hes not super super tech savvy and he doesnt do much with his PC and most of the stuff he needs/wants is stored on an external drive so for him its just a simple process of putting a disc in during boot and hitting enter to reinstall stuff... All the software he needs to use is already slipstreamed into the install so its ready to go the moment it completes the windows installation

I'll never bother with cleaning it up again... Malwarebytes didn't want to install however I managed to install Malwarebytes anti-rootkit beta. It found 4,500 malware... o_O and still I couldn't enable windows firewall.

I just reinstalled windows, and now it's as good as new.

Considering I did the same 2 months ago, probably he'll be back with the pc in July. :slap:

Next time you tell him you fixed his computer,

give him this back instead. It's guaranteed to keep working
