cant get to 3 ghz

i have an ecs a 939 mobo and a athlon fx-55. whenever i try to overclock to 3 ghz it sets the cpu to 2.52. i can get it to 2.99 just not 3. do u think this is some stupid safety feature on the motherboard?

You should update your system specs in User CP so we can better know what you have. Spouting generalized questions like that are tough to answer. I'm not an AMD fanboy, I don't hate em...I just currently have intel junk...

Maybe you're limited to 2.99, 2.99 can be considered 3ghz, which is not bad at all.

we need to know what else you have in your system and what you have done so far, like have you raised your voltage chaged the ht from x5 to x3 or x4?
