can't install drivers for 9550 in older system...help?

Hi, just as the title states, I can't seem to install any of the catalyst drivers for my 9550 pro. I can install the legacy drivers for my xpress2000 (rage 128 pro), but for some reason, my motherboard doesn't detect the 9550...any ideas?

(i've tried both XP x86 and windows 7 x86)

mobo is MSI PT880 with latest (1.9) bios, CPU is p4 3.2

uninstall any other drivers that you may have on the system. and then we can go from there

thanks for the quick reply.

this was actually done on a fresh install; nothing but default xp install, then i immediately tried to install the catalyst drivers; they wouldn't detect the card, and thus, failed to install.

suggestions?

what card are you trying to install? The 9500 right? Also download .net framwork 2.0 or higher and then install drivers...

did you download these drivers http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Legacy/Pages/radeonaiw_xp.aspx

thanks again, but no dice. those were the drivers i've tried, but i had originally thought that .net 2.0 was installed already. even after the .net 2.0 install, still nothing.

vid card: ati 9550 256mb agp.

any other ideas?

9xxx/X series is only supported up to Catalyst 9.3.

ya, thats what i also thought and figured that some older drivers would work, but i have also tried the 9.1s and still had the same error...
