never had this happen until now

get this everytime i try play a real dvd on computer ,all these dvd work on dvd player no problem

Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card

some things iv done to try fix

Updated Windows
Updated GFX Driver
VLC Media Player
CCCP
shark007 codec pack
Removed then installed dvd drive
Updated firmware on dvd drive
Lower the Resolution of Monitors
Unplug all but 1 monitor try on each one

any suggestions?

It could very well be the DVD drive starting to go. I believe certain checks have to be made, and if they time out then the copy protection kicks back the disc, if the optical drive is starting to fail the checks won't finish fast enough and it can trip the copy protection.

It could also be an HDCP thing, I forget how to check if you have a proper HDCP connection to your monitor with ATI cards. It is easy with nVidia cards, you just open up the control panel and it is right there.

Something is not HDCP compliant.

Under your sound device check the drivers on which ever device your using HDMI or sound card. It should say 5.1 and HDCP compliant. If it says 2.1 and no HDCP this drivers or hardware are not function properly ....I ran into this issue with my HTPC and ended up RMA the video card as I was trying to bit stream to HDMI

remove all codec packs ALL OF THEM
install MPC-HC from here http://www.xvidvideo.ru/media-player-classic-home-cinema-x86-x64/
and try it
codec packs cause NOTHING BUT TROUBLE only install what you ABSOLUTELY NEED Mpc-hc has its own buildt in codec based of ffdshow and its all you will ever need
also make sure your dvd region is set right

I assume we are talking Windows 7 here. So every edition of Win7 from Home Premium and up has the DVD codec built in, so no one should be recommending codec packs to fix this issue. Especially when it is giving copy protection errors and not codec errors.

Don't use codec packs, period. If you need to play a file, find the proper codec and install it. Having a shitton of codecs installs can cause more harm than good, so it is best to have the codecs you need and nothing else.

Windows Media Player will play a lot of media right out of the box at this point, it certainly is a lot better than before. It doesn't need codecs installed for it, if it doesn't have a codec for something, it will usually find one automatically.

If Media Player doesn't play the file, VLC almost certainly will, again without installing codecs for it.

well i use CCCP myself bcs i have had too much trouble with VLC when it came to ogm, mp4, mkv files and so on (yes talking about animes) back when i used it, than i switched to CCCP never had a problem since actually, almost every anime subber group recommends CCCP instead of like VLC.

Considering CCCP was originally intended to support Subbed Anime, and VLC was intended as more of a universal player that will play pretty much everything but maybe not play everything well, that makes sense.

CCCP is probably the best codec pack to install if you must install one, however it still can conflict with other codecs, so I avoid it unless absolutely necessary.

That is what I figured.

How did you figure it out?

lol i didn't see the word can haha, but why u think CCCP got their Insurgent tool?

is so u can disable the other codecs u may have or install that gives u conflicts, i did that once with a Nero codec.

I outta have you strung up and beaten for recommending Klite or any 'codec' pack >_>

Why is it that any time I see you communicate an idea there are two truths? The first being that poor English is a constant, and the second is that you will choose the most bombastic way to represent your idea without regards to how much of a jerk you are being.

You've obviously got some sort of anger with codec packs, but they are a necessity. MPC has some features, but will not come close to playing all files correctly. While my experience with k-lite is less than good (read; install, frustrated in 5 minutes, uninstall), CCCP has done an excellent job since 2008 (back when zoomplayer was bundled with it). I'd love to see you try to use MPC vanilla to play a gabest media format file, or Quicktime movie...

Yes, the insurgent tool helps, but generally those that need to install codec pack generally don't know how to use the insurgent tool.

but they are a necessity.

No, they certainly aren't a necessity. As I said, if you need a codec, install the individual codec, you don't need to install a shitton of them just to play one format.

I play both just fine without install any codec pack, I just install a single codec for each, simple.
