So, I got a Nintendo switch and kinda neglected my rig. Haven't turned it on in about 2.5 months. Decided to fire it up yesterday and it started but no display to monitor. Wouldn't even wake it. Onboard doesn't work either. Got an A2 code off the board and that is a ide error. Why would that not cause the display to not activate? I read elsewhere that I could also be looking to replace a lot of parts. Don't know yet.

if it was me i would take the opportunity to take it apart, give it a good clean and rebuild it as i would a new PC. After that its the usual process of elimination.

That's what I'm leaning towards, but that's time consuming. I'm starting to see the appeal of prebuilt gaming rigs you can just take to someone when you're busy

I remember my dads rig hadn't been turned on for about year or so, when he did, it just started up as usual.

Not very helpful , sorry...

Try what CAPS mentioned.

Maybe try disconnecting power, hold power button for a minute or so... let all the energy drain out of the capacitors. If that doesn't work, maybe try clear CMOS next. If it still doesn't work, maybe try checking the connections on all the wires and everything... maybe something got loose somehow.

Like @hat said try clearing the CMOS. Your sig mentions an overclocked CPU which might be causing problems after the PC hasn't been used for some time

have you tried to boot to a "Live" Linux or Other O/S like XP Live Distro Disk via Optical Drive ( you may need to remove power to HD so bios if searches for boot device only finds live distro)
Next Step is
if it was me i would take the opportunity to take it apart, give it a good clean and rebuild it as i would a new PC. After that its the usual process of elimination.

Do you have Access to another Simmiler Spec pc ( ram Compatible ect) for Hardware elimination Testing
