Hi everyone!

My problem is that when motherboard temp (PCH or chipset temp I think) goes above 50-51°C, the case fans starts to run full speed immediately, and it's noisy. I read that my MB chipset (Intel Z97) - and usually MB chipsets - can handle much higher temps than 50°C.

So how can I set this temp threshold higher? Or what else can be the solution?

I set fan speeds to manual in the BIOS, finetuned everything, and it works well balanced until MB temp reaches 50 or 51°C.

I have a good airflow case (CM 690) and a lot of good fans.

Thanks for the help!

50c is normal, i would worry once you exceed around 80c.
There must be a setting in your bios to stop auto fan speeds.

You aren't using any other temperature monitoring software to control fan speeds? i've heard this happens when speedfan is installed

I have temp monitoring softwares, but have not any fan control softwares like speedfan.

SpeedFan has an option that will spin up fans to max when you exit. However, if you exit SeedFan and temps are still high, the MB might still spin fans up.

I have temp monitoring softwares, but have not any fan control softwares like speedfan.
depending on the number of fans, might wanna consider a decent multi-channel fan controller or a fanhub with power from a molex to take the load off your mb.

Are they connected to the PWM headers or the normal 3 pin Case Fan headers?

I found out that some boards might have all 4-pin PWM headers but not all of them actually are. So its prolly a safe bet to count on the 4-pin CPU fan headers to really be PWM and controllable. My board for example, only the CPU headers are PWM controlled, the rest might be PWM but not controllable.

reset you bios, save your current settings and try it out, PCH [intel chipset ] could hanlde higher temps ... above 65-70

If it has 4, it has 4. You have to control them in BIOS what they are, PWM or DC. Some boards have this automatic (I know my Rampage II Gene had such method) which means you can't force PWM to operate in DC mode). The rest of connectors that weren't PWM capable were 3 pin only to begin with.

Some manufacturers did use 4pin where they should been using 3pin. I had a Biostar board like that.
