So far, my experience with 9.12 is mixed as well.
In 3DMARK Vantage I lost just over 100 points (15111, was 15234), so that's not really worth noting, cosidering their trademark crappy physics & sloppy coding.
In Unigine I went from 56.2/1416 to 100.2/2524 - a noticeable performance increase. Very smooth indeed.
FurMark yielded a performance hit as well, going from about 8900 to 8200 (already crappy in itself), though the biggest hit was in min. FPS, which went from 116 to 102(!). Not.Good.
DiRT 2 is a mixed bag. The new driver now (finally) allows me to ALT-TAB out of the game & also increased the overall performance remarkably (everything at the highest settings (including those in CCC: avg. 59.9/min 36.8 - now: 68.6/55.4) if I have VSync OFF!
With VSync ON, I get no better than 30.4/22.1 (!) & it shows in the game. Stutters galore, to the extent it's now unplayable with it on.
However.. with VSync off, it's fast - very fast, but I get occasional tearing. This is natural, of course, but a tad annoying
I don't have the probs mentioned above in losing any of the effects, like the water splash on the windscreen - these all work as before.
As an aside; I gained a massive 2FPS (yes, count them .. all two of them) on average in GTA IV.
Par-tay!
OK, I'm over it now
These figures I have quoted are an average after 7 runs in each respective benchmark, as compared to the 9.11 driver, with all benches at their respective default settings.
My XFX HD 5850 is running 775/1125/63% fan speed - set through CCC, as all other benchmarks show me no worthwhile performance gain from OCing any further, without introducing voltage increases (thus, power consumption) or causing instabilities in Folding@Home. Must be a sweet point of sorts for my card.
It seems a little odd to me, that many people here have differing experiences, with something that should be fairly consistent across the board, OS notwithstanding.
Anyone for v9.13?
