I just let a Black 2TB with 64mb cache and dual processors go for 220 :( but it was for a I7 upgrade. that drive was dubbed on several websites as the fastest mechanical drive you can get.

I've got two WD15EADS 1.5tb Green drives (32mb), and a spanking new WD15EARS 1.5tb, which now come with 64mb cache too, and I keep media and Iso's on all of them, and I gotta say they are slick drives for sure.

Don't notice that they are any slower than my aging 500gb WD's at all, not to mention they are super quiet and a good 4-5 degrees cooler at all times.

if your application is storage, I can recommend the Caviar greens for sure, especially the new EARS ones with 64mb cache.

Caviar Greens are cheaper, quieter and use a little bit less energy, they are best for media storage mostly. Caviar Blacks are where you would the OS and applications.

Greens spin at 5400rpm and its firmware is optimized to make the drive use little power and be quiet.

Blacks spin at 7200rpm and its firmware is optimized the make the drive as fast as possible.

I would use a Black for my OS and Apps drive and a Green for storage, if I had to use hard drives.
