Yesterday I purchased this game and...

1) with all the settings maxed up (8X AA and all the other goodies, but w/o v-sync), at 1680x1050, it's a bit slow. Even lowering the AA to 4X or 2X doesn't help so much. Is this normal?

2) there are evident graphical problems: a diagonal on the screen and post processing rendering errors

I have a 6950 with shader unlocked, o'c to 840/1325 with no overvolt. I think this game should run much better, considering it's based on U3 engine.

Besides, is there a fix for grahical problems? I tried editing the .ini file according to what I found on the net, but the result is not good.

What do you mean by a "diagonal" on the screen? Are you trying to describe line tearing artifacts from having vsync switched off?

put post processing on either medium or low, should boost your FPS by a large margin.

Got any proof that the problem is actually the graphics card itself? As with all poor console ports, I wouldn't worry about your pc, OP. They are either going to fix it, (the developer) or not, there is little to nothing you can do to fix a poorly coded game. Black Ops in the first month on pc comes to mind.

my card has been working fine with tens of other games since december, when I bought it.

by looking arount, I found that many 6xxx users (also 6970 users) have these problems with bulletstorm, so I was hoping that someone here had this game and could help...

Reaching your left retina.
You shouldn't be having low fps. This game runs well even on my secondary card, 8800 GT. Of course not with all the bells and wisttles, but Cayman is like 5x faster?

The diagonal thing does look like an artifact that could be caused by malfunctioning shaders, but if other games are ok that shouldn't be the problem**.

If you have heard from other people having problems with the game and Cayman cards then it might be a driver thing*. Did you try different drivers, especially ones where there are optimizations for this game?

* it could also be other people with unlocked cards tho.
** Other games could not be triggering an existing problem in the unlocked shaders. Maybe this game stresses the shaders in a way that makes them fail somehow. Some HD6950 do have shaders that had to be dissabled and not always the reason is that they don't work entirely.

That's not the issue. Happens on my 6970 too. It's the game. When everything else runs well except 1 title, what conclusions can you draw ? Oh well, the game bites anyways. Waste of money.

The game is just another poorly optimized port, with artificially high system requirements(either through design or poor coding). Dated graphics, the same slop we've been fed for years now, and we're told to LOWER settings to get it to run properly? There is nothing in this game that should keep it from running like butter on a 4xxx let alone a 6xxx.

It's a known issue with the game that it runs poorly in some resolutions. See the bulletstorm thread here - Bulletstorm Thread

I conclude that it's a driver issue with the game as the drivers aren't telling the card to render the game properly. If it was a game issue this would be happening to all video cards.

It was an exaggeration to prove a point.

If hes running this on an AMDx2 3800+ hes gonna have problems (Yes it had PCI-E). My point is all of these suggestions are useless until you know his specs.

well, my system is not the newest in the world, but I run a Q6600 at 3.2Ghz, with 2GB of DDR2 memory clocket at 890Mhz CAS 4. I can run metro 2033 in 1680x1050 with everything on except PP and 4X AA at more than 30fps. Dead Space 2 flies at I guess more than 60 fps at 1920x1080 with everything maxed out and morphological AA + Edge Detect on. Si I conclude that it's definitely a problem of Bulletstorm with 69xx. I hope they fix it with 11.3 drivers, otherwise I wasted my money on it.

Well Your CPU is not the bottleneck.

Have you tried running the game with morphological AA turned off?

I did have the performance issues, when running in 16*10 resolution (1920*1200) 35-55FPS, when run in 16*9 (1920*1080) all HIGH no AA, vsync ON, 55-60, so try 16*9 res. it worked for me, and yes there must be a problem with drivers and 6900 serie.

This is a known problem with 69xx cards and the unreal engine. It's not caused because you unlocked your shaders or anything like that.

Technically you are right but it seems a bug is present in the existing code. See how you roll at 1920 x 1080, you may be very surprised. I'm sure it will get patched as it is fairly common for alot of users, myself included. (I'm also at 1680x1050)

At the moment you can sorta fix this by disabling lightshafts.
Open the stormengine.ini with the BSiniEditor and set 'lightshaft' to False

Of course the visuals suffer a bit from this, but it's better than that diagonal line.

I think I'll wait for a patch to come out (or for newer catalyst) after all. I like playing game with the best possible graphics and I hate disabling things, if that's just for a bug. I only hope that sooner or later something will come out to fix these odd problems.

I bought the game since it got great reviews around the web, and I used to be a fan of "old type" FPS, where you had to frag and...well, just frag :)
