A Reddit user reported on a recent CD Projekt Red community event held in Warsaw, where the developer of the highly expected Cyberpunk 2077 (and highly acclaimed The Witcher 3) expanded on their latest cyberpunk game's story. According to CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 will have a shorter main storyline than that of The Witcher 3, albeit its sidequests will be much more complex and impactful regarding the entire experience. With the Witcher 3 and its numerous sidequests taking north of 120 hours to fully complete (at least at this editor's pace), this might still place the game's playtime above that of The Witcher 3, depending on the number and complexity of said sidequests.

According to the user, CD Projekt Red in the community event said that The Witcher 3 sidequests were designed as branching events from the main storyline, which would then, sometimes, make it back onto the main storyline with some repercussions. However, Cyberpunk 2077 sidequests are being developed so as to then enable more of them to be generated upon completion, depending on choices made during that slight deviation from the main story, with most of them having some kind of impact on one another.

Also according to the reddit user, CD Projekt Red said that the day and night cycle won't be just a lighting gimmick, but will flow organically into the way quests - and even cutscenes - present themselves to the player. Add to this promises of much higher replayability that CD Projekt Red is aiming to achieve with their latest game opera, and reasons to like Cyberpunk 2077 are certainly on the way of outgrowing a "breathtaking" Keanu Reeves". There is much more information on the original Reddit post, so feel free to take a look at it if you crave more on Cyberpunk 2077.

I am so hyped for this game. I am sure the campaign will be long enough to satisfy most though.

I'm going into this game with no expectations and no real urge to play another TW3.

I'd advise everyone to do the same thing ;) It can only end badly otherwise, these aren't the same games, settings or worlds, and from talented devs what you want is for them to try new things, explore new concepts and give each game full creative freedom. That's how great games are usually done.

Or, put differently, nobody wants CDPR to become the next Ubisoft (and I think CDPR is well aware, given their current release trains).

I see you’re getting it from the source and giving all the purchase money to CDPR. :D
Of course! I’m happy to throw my money at them now(June actually) I’ve been excited about this game from the moment it was announced they might as well get my money to help support it’s development.

When you can get it DRM-free, why would you get from anywhere else?

GOG invented the deep discounts that Steam later copied. But seriously, looking for discounts on a pre-order?

I believe in supporting GOG whenever possible. Hell, sometimes I buy a second copy of a game that I already own on Steam when it shows up on GOG.

Buying from GOG over any other digital service accomplishes 2 things imo. It supports GOG and it shows Publishers that they can sell their games on GOG DRM free successfully.

For me, price doesn’t matter. Sure, I do wait many times till games on GOG are on sale, but my first two priorities are always no DRM and to own the game, not just the right to play it. If that means I sometimes pay more, that’s ok with me. :)

No I didn't but maybe I will now
Get the whole series, the games should be heavily discounted by now. And they'll keep you busy through April 2020. A word of advice, when your choices actually do make a difference, you'll be playing through the game several times to get the whole story ;)

I'm not - never - pre ordering anything. But chances are price will be equal or higher at GOG at launch. I hope CDPR controls that tightly and they pull more ppl to GOG. If they are smart, to drop $5 below the normal sale price. More exposure for Galaxy...

As a general rule, I agree with you on this matter. This game is one of those very few exceptions...

I found the main story of W3 to be a tad long, and I haven't even finished the game. Or maybe it's because I spend too much time on side quests and exploring. Which is why I welcome this change.

Yeah, but for me the game costs $70 on GOG and $60 on Humble, which also gives you a GOG key upon purchase.
Now, I'm going to get the game on GOG simply because I want to support the devs (don't care that much about DRM-free), and make this a reward for what they've done with the Wither in the past, BUT...
What do I as consumer get for that extra $10. I still get the game on the same platform, same base experience, no extra bonuses. It's additional 10 bucks for... literally nothing. It's easier for US buyers, as all the platforms have the same pricing, but for me in Japan it varies a lot. Hell, the game is even $80 on Steam for me at the moment.

$10 isn't much which is why I'll get the game on GOG directly, as I've said, but there's not much of an incentive for me to do so.

I haven't played any Witcher games, but the inherent lack of focus in open world games is really feeling old at this point. "HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF GAMEPLAY" sounds great until you realize a lot of that is not really worth it. I like to compare them (most of them anyway) to water puddles with oil in them: big and shiny but shallow to the point of frustration.

And I really wish they didn't feature Grizzled Neo so much, or that it was even revealed he'd be in it.

That's why TW3 is so good, it manages open world in a way that truly every map marker and quest is a nice little experience. Is it perfect, no, but its pretty damn close. The game's main flaw is depth and flow of combat/progression. Tad weird and uncanny. And CBP2077 being first person handily avoids that.

Exactly! Why I’m so excited for Cyberpunk it’s taken away all the things I don’t like about TW3 but I can expect that deep, excellent CDPR storytelling.

I have the feeling CBP will be the Deus Ex I've always wanted
